While Fox News stars such as Bill O'Reilly and Sean Hannity get Labor Day off, it would almost certainly not be a holiday for the rest of us if the "fair and balanced" network had its way.
If you have today off, you can thank the labor movement. The U.S. Department of Labor notes that the holiday, "is a creation of the labor movement and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers. It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country."
Despite it's self-proclaimed patriotism, after President Obama and Democrats, there are few things Fox News hates more than labor unions.
Media Matters has come up with a nice little mashup video showing just one year's efforts from those "America lovers." But there are many, many more examples on this site. You can either click the links in the preceding paragraph or you can do a site search for hundreds, maybe thousands more examples.
In the meanwhile, I hope everyone enjoys the holiday. And feel free to ruin it for Fox News by showing your appreciation for unions!
While these cafeteria Catholics are enjoying their time off, the low-end Fox “News” slaves…ahem…employees still have to report to work.
We look forward to the day when Billy and Hannocchio are dismissed from this network. These two old bogs are too old to attract a younger audience. Advertisers have more pull than the Shineman, a useless overpaid VP.
Happy Labor Day to all who actually work or have worked for a living.
