Fox News has forgotten how much it hates "class warefare" against the rich - and is now demonizing Hillary Clinton's earnings - just in time for the run up to the 2016 presidential election.
Remember when Fox News attacked Democrats for waging class warfare against the wealthy? That was so last election cycle! With Hillary Clinton looming as a very electable 2016 presidential candidate, Fox sees the issue with a new pair of (Republican) glasses. Check out this "featured story" that landed in my inbox via the Fox Nation daily update:
There's nothing in the article, which is excerpted on Fox Nation from Bloomberg, to indicate that Clinton earned the $12 million unethically. Just that it's "a windfall" that puts her "at odds with her party’s call to shrink the gap between the rich and the poor." If you click through to the full article, the authors compare Clinton to Mitt Romney and suggest that she is out of touch with the general populace. But as former Clinton-administration Labor Secretary Robert Reich notes several paragraphs later, the real issue is not about Clinton's wealth per se but about how her policies will reflect the interests and concerns of the rest of us.
But don't expect that distinction get a lot of traction on Fox.
Maybe it's just Democratic wealth Fox Nation can't tolerate. Or just Democrats in general. Especially when they're looking good with the general public.
The Democrat will ask a voter, “How are you” with genuine concern and empathy. The Republicon will ask “Who are you” with an air of “Why are you near me” in the tone.
Had Sean Hannity made such an amount speaking at an NRA convention or CPAC, FOX would have no doubt stifled the information, or put a spin on how he “deserves it because he works so hard.”
Hillary, get Elizabeth next to you and BEAT THEIR ASSES this time around. Thanks in advance.
