A few nights ago, Sean Hannity had the unmitigated gall to call on Oliver North to attack President Obama over the prisoner swap of Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl for five Taliban prisoners. Fortunately for the rest of us, Jon Stewart had some choice things to say about it.

As the mouthpiece for the God hates fags religious right, Fox News has unabashedly and unapologetically taken the side of those fine Christians who think discriminating against gays is fine because  the Bible and, of course, religious freedom. Back in September Fox & Friends, in advancing Jesus loving, homo hating Todd Starnes whine, gave their full support to Christian bakers who closed down rather than be "forced," under Oregon's Equality Act, to bake a wedding cake for a gay couple. This egregious offense to God's chosen heterosexual people was framed as "The Fight for Faith." But in a subsequent piece about another aggrieved Christian baker, who is being "forced" to stop discriminating against gay customers, Elisabeth Hasselbeck framed non-discrimination laws as "The Death of Free Enterprise" and, of course, the suppression of religious freedom. This morning, Elisabeth Hasselbeck welcomed back this same Christian baker for more of the same Christian anti-gay talking points and Fox validation!

On Monday, Fox’s Charles Payne just happened to be a guest on Your World and that just happened to give host Neil Cavuto a chance to promote Payne’s new show, Making Money, on Fox Business - which just happened to premiere that night. But Cavuto left out some details of Payne’s resumé that the “we report, you decide” network’s viewers might think of as kind of crucial.

The latest example of Sean Hannity’s extremism was on view tonight as he hosted two Islamophobes to blow the "secret Muslim" dog whistle “analyze” the comments of Bowe Bergdahl’s father in the Rose Garden last weekend, spoken in Pashto, in response to the news that his son had been freed. “Great American” Hannity used the segment to further his smear of the soldier and his family with the obviously ultimate goal of using them against President Obama.

As the place where "you can bash Islam with impunity," it wasn't surprising that various Fox personalities attacked Bowe Bergdahl's father for - wait for it - looking like a Muslim. Yes indeed, on the same network which proclaimed that Santa and Jesus were white, Bill O'Reilly was "insulted" by Bob Bergdahl who had the audacity to learn the treasonous "language of the Taliban" (Pashtun, a major language group in Afghanistan) and resemble a Muslim because - facial hair! Brian Kilmeade focused on that suspicious facial hair when, in suggesting that Mr. Bergdahl wants to look like the Taliban, he asked why Mr. Bergdahl hasn't shaved, now that his son has been released. Last night, Jon Stewart adroitly pointed out how, for Fox News, not all hair is created equal!

Sean Hannity hosted a friend of Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl last night, obviously with the intent of making him look like an anti-American sissy. When the friend didn’t go along with the program, Hannity got pushier and more obnoxious. He all but attacked her for not calling Bergdahl a deserter and traitor.

Dr. Keith Ablow, the Fox News psychiatrist who doesn’t need to examine public figures to analyze them, offered his professional opinion about Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, his father and why the prisoner swap for five Taliban members was “bound to happen.” Because, Ablow announced on Fox & Friends this morning, Obama “wants out of America, my friend. Trust me.”

Charles Krauthammer was a voice of reason and clarity on The O’Reilly Factor last night. He exploded the myth that President Obama had committed some huge national security gaffe that was about to put the whole country in jeopardy thanks to his prisoner swap of five Taliban detainees in Guantanamo Bay prison for Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl.

It turns out that steady parade of troops who served with Bowe Bergdahl that are attacking him all over the media are being organized by Fox News contributor Richard Grenell and his conservative PR operation.

Lt. Col. Ralph Peters joined The Kelly File tonight for a Fox News round of hate mongering against Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, the recovery effort, the Obama administration and, it would seem, the notion that Bergdahl is innocent of desertion or any other crime until proven guilty. In fact, Peters seemed to think we should skip any official investigation and go straight for shooting, hanging or some kind of sentence of hard labor.
