Dennis Miller Now Smearing Alan Colmes
Dennis Miller, one of Fox News’ stable of so-called comedians recast as pundits, made his regular Wednesday night visit to the O’Reilly Factor last night where he responded to O’Reilly’s attack on “shoot out with” Alan Colmes of the night before. Instead of offering any real opinion, Miller used the opportunity to make gratuitous smears of Colmes. The implicit message was: who cares if O'Reilly was right or wrong to call Colmes a "liar" when he (correctly) pointed out spending cuts proposed by President Obama? The only thing that matters to Miller is the opportunity to show his disdain for both of them.

Bill O'Reilly must have had quite the "road to Damascus" moment because he certainly has fallen off his high horse with regard to his evolution on, yes, evolution! In 2009, he bloviated that Jesus guided evolution and that science still hasn't "figured it out." In 2011 O'Reilly, in a heated argument with atheist Richard Dawkins, said that he was a creationist. That same year, he dismissed the scientific basis for the tides. Not only does he now embrace science, but he feels that it's his duty to lecture fundamentalist Christians, who interpret the Bible literally, on how their beliefs aren't scientific. Last week, he chided the producers of the History Channel's "The Bible" on their beliefs - and pimped is upcoming book on Jesus. In a subsequent "Tip of the Day" he suggested that those who don't share his views on the bible as allegory are like jihdadists. And last night, he continued his biblical exegesis with Pastor Robert Jeffress - and pimped his book. Meanwhile, Catholic O'Reilly doesn't seem to care about Jeffress' anti-Catholic views. Go figure!
Read moreKirsten Powers To O’Reilly: You Need To Admit You’re Wrong
Unfortunately for Bill O’Reilly, Kirsten Powers didn’t buy into his pretense last night that Alan Colmes had not provided any specific spending cuts President Obama has proposed. You may recall that was the basis for O’Reilly’s shocking outburst against Colmes the night before. Powers came armed with facts and figures that proved Colmes’ case and told O’Reilly, “You need to admit you’re wrong.”

Bill O’Reilly addressed tonight his shocking attack on Alan Colmes last night. “I’m sorry I said Alan was lying,” O’Reilly said. “I should not have used that word.” Then he proceeded to argue that the state of the country is so dire and that Americans are not paying enough attention so he just HAD to do something to get it.

Just when you think you've heard the most ignorant and offensive right wing comment, think again. While a recent comment, on Neil Cavuto's show, wasn't on a par with the infamous rape comments made by two failed GOP senatorial candidates, it certainly is right up there in the GOP Hall of Shame. Last Friday, Cavuto and Michelle Fields discussed a new Chicago sex-ed program that will provide age appropriate information for kindergartners, including what constitutes "bad touch." (*Fields is the GOP's newest hot, young thing whose main cred is that she hosts an internet show with the former congressman Allen West) Cavuto and Fields were appalled by the curriculum which is intended to protect kids against sexual predators - not, as claimed by Cavuto, to make students "sexually savvy." Fields used her face time to denigrate the Chicago public ("government") school system. She also suggested that, rather than teach "disgusting" sex-ed, Chicago schools teach the kids, many of them living in violent neighborhoods, how to shoot a gun!

Bill O'Reilly knew he went too far with his vicious attacks on Alan Colmes last night and he repeatedly referred to that meltdown discussion during the rest of the show. In the opening of a subsequent segment with John Stossel, O'Reilly said, "I'm still feeling bad about Colmes." But Stossel didn't mince his words. "You were out of line!" he shot back.
Read moreHannity Goes to Bat for Poor Children in America. Aggressively.
Mohammed Morsi and his government in Egypt have worked a miracle, gentle reader! They’ve gotten Sean Hannity concerned about poor children in America! How did this wonder of wonders happen? Because Secretary of State John Kerry has just announced nearly $450 million in aid to the "terrorist," "Muslim Brotherhood" government in Egypt instead of spending it on poor children (or on the military, which is more characteristic). The Obama administration's support of Egypt is a familiar topic of outrage on Fox, and Monday night Hannity made it the subject of one of his bring-in-a-friend-and-we'll-bully-a-liberal segments.

Minutes after O'Reilly's shocking meltdown with Alan Colmes - and when I was certainly in no mood to give him any props - he rightly questioned Tucker Carlson over those anonymously-sourced accusations about Senator Robert Menendez consorting with prostitutes. You may recall I criticized O'Reilly for denouncing anonymously-sourced stories - as he worked them into a discussion anyway - and for subsequently ignoring the recent evidence undermining the accusations. Well, file this under "Credit Where Credit Is Due." However, O'Reilly did allow Carlson to waffle on the question of whether the accusing women took money for their stories and he allowed Carlson to skate on media reports that undermine the Daily Caller's allegations.

Bill O’Reilly had a major meltdown tonight with Alan Colmes. It has to be seen to be believed but let’s just say that O’Reilly was screaming at Colmes that he’s a liar and Colmes respectfully but firmly shot back, “Don’t you call me a liar.” Later, O’Reilly seethed, “It’s jack what you’re saying. There’s another word for it but it’s an obscenity.” In a subsequent segment, John Stossel told O’Reilly he had been out of line and “obnoxious.”
