In the wake of a near-murder caused by a fake conservative news story known as “Pizzagate,” Fox trotted out its crackpot psychiatrist, Dr. Keith Ablow, to blame liberals for the spate of fake news. Ablow also conveniently deflected from the involvement of Trump administration insiders Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn and his son.

Megyn Kelly did her part to justify the completely unjustifiable nomination of Dr. Ben Carson to head the Department of Housing and Urban Renewal. But rather than come right out and support it, she “merely” attacked the opposition and then suggested to supporter Mike Huckabee that critics are arguing that Carson is too stupid to do the job. Sadly, the Democratic guest let her get away with it.

Sean Hannity may be a bully just like his beloved Donald Trump, but he is also a cowardly whiner in the same vein. That would just be a matter of obnoxiousness were it not for the fact that Hannity is using his bully pulpit to squelch the First Amendment. And he’s got support among his cohorts.

Donald Trump’s call with Taiwan last week was a reckless provocation with China. But Fox pundits pretended it was no big deal. At the same time, they suggested they wouldn’t mind more overt aggression.

Fox News contributor Mike Huckabee agrees with Dr. Ben Carson, a former Fox contributor, that his childhood in the inner city makes him totally qualified to be the secretary of the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Apparently, Dr. Ben Carson’s former residence in the inner city plus hostility to anti-segregation laws plus loyalty to Donald Trump are all the qualifications the president-elect thinks necessary to run a federal department with a budget of nearly $50 billion and 8,400 employees. It’s a department Carson admits he knows nothing about. But today Trump chose Carson to be head of the Department of Housing and Urban Development.

But in the last week, there was so much outrageousness – and there will surely be more in the weeks and years to come – that I decided it is important to highlight. And why shouldn’t we have a little fun with it along the way. God knows, we’ve got enough to be serious about already.

I can just imagine the uproar on Fox News if Barack Obama skipped out of daily intelligence briefings. But for ignoramus Donald Trump, there was barely an eyebrow raised. Former campaign manager Kellyanne Conway deflected from the issue by attacking Hillary Clinton (and Fox host Chris Wallace let her do it) and two Fox panelists suggested Trump's refusal to do his job is admirable.

On Fox News Sunday today, Chris Wallace seemed more interested in belittling and discrediting Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein than he was in trying to glean for his viewers any understanding of her calls for recounts in three states. Given that he insists the recounts will not change the outcome, why are he and, coincidentally, the Trump people, so worked up over it?

Fox News trotted out former Indiana college basketball coach Bobby Knight to cheerlead Donald Trump’s deal with Carrier Corporation in Indiana. But Fox got more than it probably hoped for when Knight gushed over Trump and called him “Saint Donald.”
