Fox News Outrageous Quote Of The Week Poll – 12/15/13-12/21/13
After last week’s slam dunk for Megyn Kelly, I think you’ll find this week’s crop of nominations a whole new kettle of fish. We’ve got three Bill O’Reilly nominations: defending Kelly’s “white Santa” remarks; his prediction that same-sex marriage will destroy traditional marriage, and his comparison of his journalistic career to serving in the military. But we’ve also got plenty of Duck Dynasty outrageousness, slobbering over Dick Cheney and a few shameless attacks on President Obama. So dust off those thinking caps because you're going to need them!

Bill O'Reilly's narcissism knows no bounds. In addition to congratulating himself over imaginary victories in his annual exercise of angry and paranoid bullying, otherwise known as the war on Christmas, he has brought in, for two straight years, a Christian wingnut pastor to provide him with the validation that he so desperately seeks. Last year, anti-Islamic and homophobic Texas pastor Robert Jeffress appeared on the Factor to echo Bill's claim that Christian clergy aren't doing enough to fight the war on Christmas and, of course, to provide a hearty amen to Bill's delusional claims that he is saving Christmas. This year, Jeffress returned for more of the same and a little fire and brimstone to add to the mix.

Fox News gave Mike Huckabee a nice Christmas present today of hyping his potential 2016 presidential campaign. In yet another Fox News Sunday show devoid of Democrats, Wallace lobbed image-enhancing softballs at his colleague. But Huckabee may have tripped himself up on the one semi-challenging issue: His ridiculous comparison of President Obama’s early opposition to same-sex marriage to Duck Dynasty’s Phil Robertson’s graphic attacks on homosexuality.

Whenever Bill Maher lampoons Christianity, he is bashed for being anti-Christian. Yet, when Duck Dynasty's Phil Robertson's ugly homophobic comments were condemned by GLAAD, the same folks who are offended by Maher claim that those who criticize Robertson are attacking his Christian faith. And in defending Robertson's crude statements, they invoke freedom of speech (not accorded Maher or Martin Bashir), religious freedom, and the word of God. This morning, Fox & Friends, hosted the owners of a company that sponsors Duck Dynasty. They stand with Phil because they share his biblical beliefs which, of course, include the notion that gays are going to hell. The curvy couch Christians had no problem with the comments because they're based on faith - in fact, the segment was part of their "fight for faith" series.
