Cliven Bundy Not The First Slavery Lover Hannity Has Cozied Up To

Posted by Ellen · April 24, 2014 6:43 PM · 7 reactions

With all the focus on Cliven Bundy's shocking comments "just wondering" if African Americans were better off under slavery, this seems a good time to remind people that Bundy is not the first or even the second slavery apologist Hannity has found as a kindred spirit. Hannity's pal, Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson has said, "Thank God for slavery" and likened slave ships to flying coach in an airplane: "It’s a tough ride. But you’re happy when you get to your desitination." Hannity also repeatedly welcomed white supremacist Hal Turner on the radio who said "black people would still be swinging on trees in Africa," were it not for slavery.

Steve Doocy, Juan Williams Whine About Media Matters Tax Exemption - Again!

Posted by Priscilla · April 24, 2014 5:05 PM · 2 reactions

Doocy_fair___balanced.jpg

While the "fair & balanced" Fox News has no problem disseminating right wing propaganda, they do have a huge problem getting called out about it by Media Matters. Back in 2011, they launched a full court press against Media Matters which included a vicious personal attack on its founder, David Brock, framed as a psychological evaluation by Fox Medical A Team member Keith Ablow. In playing the victim of the Media Matters meanies, Fox claimed that the organization was political and, therefore, not eligible for a tax exemption. Fox viewers were urged to sign a petition to file a complaint with the IRS about MMFA's tax status. On Fox & Friends, Juan Williams validated the Fox whine. In a great example of how the more things change, the more they remain the same, Juan Williams was back on this morning's Fox & Friends to continue just where they all left off.

Rick Perry: ‘All Of The Signs’ Show Fracking Is A ‘Safe Practice’

Posted by Brian · April 24, 2014 4:56 PM · 1 reaction

Fox’s Your World opened yesterday with a 10-minute interview with Texas Governor Rick Perry. The entire segment was clearly designed to show off his Republican awesomeness and potential presidential candidacy. So there was not a peep of challenge when Perry sang the praises of fracking.

Fox Nation Omits Comment Section For Cliven Bundy Racist Comments Thread

Posted by Priscilla · April 24, 2014 2:23 PM · 19 reactions

As we know, the comment section of Fox Nation is a veritable sewage pit of racist hate directed towards African Americans and, in particular, Barack and Michelle Obama who, on occasion, are the recipients of death threats from the patriotic citizens of this Fox media apartheid state. Today, one of the Fox Nation threads is taken from Greta Van Susteren's blog, the Greta Wire. It is titled "Greta: Let Me Make This Plain: I Condemn What Cliven Bundy Said About African Americans." There is NO section for comments. Obviously, Jesse Watters knows his readers very, very well.

Jon Stewart Responds To Hannity With An Even Better Takedown Over Bundy's Lawlessness

Posted by Ellen · April 24, 2014 1:16 PM · 7 reactions

As I wrote Tuesday night, Jon Stewart apparently struck a deep nerve when he lambasted Sean Hannity's hypocritical advocacy for lawbreaking Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy. The next night, Hannity hit back by whitewashing his record and then launching a bunch of irrelevant smears at Stewart. Last night, Stewart responded with an even more epic shredding. And I mean epic!

In Pimping Gosnell Movie, 'The Five,' Suggest Pro-Choice Hollywood = Pro-Infanticide Hollywood?

Posted by Priscilla · April 24, 2014 11:35 AM · 2 reactions

As the mouthpiece for those who want to take away reproductive choice, Fox News eagerly responded to the anti-choice complaint that the media wasn't sufficiently covering the Gosnell trial. Fox, in coming to the rescue, sensationalized the issue and promoted the anti-choice false equivalency between safe legal abortion and Dr. Gosnell's clinic. Those who want to produce a film about Gosnell have been rejected by Hollywood and are now crowd-sourcing the film. So Fox is once more jumping in to help raise funds for this movie. Both Megyn Kelly and Bill O'Reilly promoted the film. Jumping on the bandwagon is Fox's 'The Five," a show that actively promotes anti-choice positions and proudly proclaims itself to be officially pro-life. Last week (4/16), 'The Five' promoted the movie and also doubled down on the evil Hollywood right wing meme by suggesting that what Gosnell did is acceptable in pro-choice Hollywood circles - a pro-life propagandapalooza!

Fox News Helps Texan Republicans Abbott And Perry Incite A New Range War

Posted by Ellen · April 24, 2014 9:00 AM · 15 reactions

Texas gubernatorial candidate Greg Abbott apparently decided he wanted a little Cliven Bundy action for himself. So did Texas’ current governor (and potential 2016 presidential candidate) Rick Perry. And Fox News was more than happy to help. Whether new revelations about Bundy’s racism will put a crimp in their swagger remains to be seen.

Fox's BFF Rancher Bundy Thinks Blacks Had More Freedom As Slaves

Posted by Ellen · April 23, 2014 11:55 PM · 30 reactions

It turns out Fox's favorite Nevada rancher, Cliven Bundy, is not just a lying lawbreaker but quite the racist, too. The New York Times caught him in a racial rant in which - among other things - he said about African Americans, "I’ve often wondered, are they better off as slaves, picking cotton and having a family life and doing things, or are they better off under government subsidy? They didn’t get no more freedom. They got less freedom.” UPDATED: Bundy doubles down... on video!

Hannity ‘Celebrates’ Earth Day By Attacking Climate Science With His Know-Nothing Pal, Mark Steyn

Posted by Ellen · April 23, 2014 6:23 PM · 10 reactions

If Sean Hannity was searching for the least qualified person to help him attack Earth Day and global warming concerns, he could not have done better than high-school dropout and Rush Limbaugh substitute Mark Steyn last night. Between the two of them, there wasn’t a credential or bona fide to be found. But that didn’t stop either from playing climate science mavens on the Hannity show last night.

Bill O'Reilly Fund Raises For Right Wing Filmmaker's Gosnell Movie?

Posted by Priscilla · April 23, 2014 3:54 PM · 1 reaction

When the anti-choice lobby whined that the media wasn't sufficiently covering the trial of Philadelphia abortion provider, Dr. Kermit  Gosnell, Fox News eagerly jumped to fill the gap with saturation coverage which, in keeping with the anti-choice talking point, equated what happened in Gosnell's clinic with safe, legal abortion. Now that a right wing filmmaker is crowd sourcing a proposed Gosnell movie, Fox has eagerly jumped in to help fill the coffers. Earlier this month, Megyn Kelly, while not identifying the crowd source site, promoted the movie. And last night, Bill O'Reilly interviewed actor and Tea Party supporter Nick Searcy about Searcy's support for the movie. But unlike Kelly, O'Reilly provided the website for the crowd sourcing. Coincidence or just Bill doing his journalist thing? Hmm....
