Whoops, He Did It Again: Todd Starnes Gets Caught Lying To Promote Book Sales?
Todd Starnes might be a pathological liar; but he's a good Christian who loves Jesus and thinks gays are going to hell; so, in the nation of Fox, he is an exemplary citizen. He was recently outed (!?) for, sweet mercy, yet another example of his propensity to break that commandment about bearing false witness - a commandment not highly regarded by the very Christian network which employs him. But seriously, should we be surprised?
Read morePoliticization Of Fort Hood Shooting: Smear The Poor Edition
Fox News wasted little time politicizing the Fort Hood shooting. I’ll have more on that later. But “former FBI agent” Jonathan Gilliam shockingly used the incident to attack welfare recipients as doing “nothing to earn their citizenship.” Not surprisingly, neither host Sean Hannity nor Fox News contributor K.T. McFarland objected.

Underscoring why Fox News is an "echo chamber" for the American Islamophobia cottage industry and the place where you can bash Islam with impunity is Fox's Megyn Kelly. Her record is stellar: She validated parents who opposed a textbook because of supposed pro-Islam bias; did not refute the lie , by anti-Islam David Horowitz, that Huma Abedin is connected to Islamic terror; supported the man who made an anti-Mohammed video which sparked protest in the Islamic world; and promoted an anti-Islam movie made by the paranoid Steve Emerson. Kelly's newest bit of Muslim bashing involves a movie, with ties to anti-Islamic interests, about Muslim violence towards women. CAIR refused her invitation to appear on her show and she's now attacking them for allegedly encouraging an alleged "spokesperson" to do a "hit piece" on Fox News. Obviously Fox News can give it, but not take it and Megyn Kelly says it's on like Donkey Kong!
Read moreO’Reilly Hearts Tesla, Electric Cars And Their Tax Breaks
It’s not often that I can say that I agree wholeheartedly with Bill O’Reilly but I did last night when he debated Fox's Eric Bolling on Tesla, electric cars and the federal tax breaks that come with them. Color me cynical, but I couldn’t help but suspect that the reason O’Reilly loves Teslas (and their attendant tax breaks) is because he has one. Still, I came away thinking that Bolling got his clock cleaned on this one… and it was most satisfying.

On Fox’s Your World, a graphic on the screen undercut guest Betsy McCaughey’s misleading claim that the Affordable Care Act is not reducing the number of uninsured Americans. Instead of correcting McCaughey, host Neil Cavuto helped validate her distortion.
Read moreFox News Cuts And Runs From Democrats In Benghazi Hearing
Fox News’ fascination with Benghazi seems to end at the Republican partisan divide. Today, during what Fox hyped as a major Benghazi hearing, Fox gave the bulk of its airtime to Republican questioning and hardly any from the Democrats. Even though the hearing aired during the daytime hours, which Fox claims constitute its “objective news” lineup.

As the conduit for those who seek to eliminate reproductive rights for American women, Fox News eagerly responded to "pro-life" complaints that the national media wasn't providing sufficient coverage of the trial of an abortion doctor who was eventually convicted of three counts of murder. For Fox it was a win-win. They were able to advance their meme of mainstream media bias (ahem) as well as promote the "pro-life" view that what Dr. Gosnell did is representative of all abortion clinics. Now that Phelim McAleer, whose movies promote anti-climate change and pro-fracking interests, is doing a movie about Gosnell, Fox didn't waste a minute in promoting the movie and McAleer's claim about having been censored by a crowdfunding source. Last night, Megyn Kelly continued to push the Fox Gosnell agitprop and, in so doing, might have provided a new media crowdsource for McAleer's movie!
Read moreOn Fox News, Torture Is Patriotic
Sean Hannity still loves torture. Tonight, he discussed the bombshell news that a U.S. Senate Intelligence Committee report has found torture “yielded little if any significant intelligence.” Hannity didn’t bother to debate any facts of the report. Heck, he barely even discussed the substance of it. Nor did he interview anyone with real knowledge of it. No, he and his guests were too busy singing the praises of torture and demonizing those who disagree.
Read moreOn Fox & Friends: Anti-Immigration Kris Kobach Plays Fear Of 'Amnesty' Card
President Obama is on track to deport more people than any other president. But that's not enough for Fox & Friends which recently hosted the nativist Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach who claimed that the deportation numbers were false because Obama is "cooking the books" - an unfounded allegation that plays well to the Fox audience's fear of "illegals." This past Saturday Kobach returned to Fox & Friends where he fomented more fear while discussing a change in immigration policy which grants "unlawful presence provisional waivers to the immediate relatives of U.S. citizens" for those who, under old policy, were required to leave the US in order to reapply for status. The policy allows those who have committed "petty offenses" to obtain the waiver while waiting for a Green Card. Obviously, this represents a more humane approach to things - but not for Kobach who claims that this "amnesty" (popular right wing buzz word) is all about releasing hordes of criminal brown people.
Read moreEric Bolling, Andrea Tantaros Advance Anti-Choice Fox Lie: Birth Control = Abortion
As the mouthpiece for the America's anti-choice religious right who are opposed to the ACA's birth control mandate, Fox has *consistently pushed their talking point that the ACA covers contraceptives which cause abortions. This view is based on the beliefs of certain evangelical Christians (Hobby Lobby) and the Catholic Church. It is not based on science which has determined that Plan B prevents ovulation and the IUD prevents implantation prior to which, according to the medical community, there is no pregnancy. But rather than address this important nuance, Fox presents, as Fox Fact, that abortion is covered under the ACA. Last week, during discussions about Hobby Lobby, Eric Bolling and Andera Tantaros must have scored lots of "pro-life" points for pushing this patented Fox lie.
