George Zimmerman’s Character Witness Has A Racist, Criminal History
While Fox News clutches its collective pearls over Oprah Winfrey’s “racial comments” and continues to point a finger at Barack Obama for having associated with Rev. Jeremiah Wright, they really should (but almost certainly won’t) take a look at the guy presented to viewers as a character reference for George Zimmerman. I posted about Frank Taaffe’s dubious history the night On The Record trotted him out to defend George Zimmerman’s behavior in shooting and killing the unarmed Trayvon Martin. Now Mother Jones has looked into Taaffe’s past and let’s just say he makes Jeremiah Wright look like a choirboy.

Drudge is reporting, based on anonymous "top sources," that Megyn Kelly will take Fox News' 9 PM ET slot when she returns from maternity leave. So what will happen to Sean Hannity, whose Hannity show currently airs at that time? We don't know yet. But there's one thing his fans can probably count on. UPDATED.
Read moreTodd Starnes, Sean Hannity Use "Controversial" Textbook To Bash Islam
Whenever America's conservative Christians feel that they are being attacked by evil secularists, and "the gay agenda," Fox News gives them warm validation for this supposed "war on Christians." Yet Fox News is the place where "you can bash Islam with impunity." This was recently underscored by the appearance by Fox's resident homophobic, racist hate monger and Jesus BFF, Todd Starnes who was given a Fox & Friends pulpit from which to advance the Florida Christian "outrage" about an advanced placement history text which, OMG, is supposedly biased against Jesus while promoting, OMG, Islam. Starnes continued his crusade (or is it jihad!) against the book on the Hannity show during which Starnes, a graduate of the very Christian Lee University, and college and seminary drop-out Hannity, criticized the scholarship of the book with distorted information about Islam. As is said, a little knowledge is a dangerous thing; but in promoting an agenda to promote hate and divide America, Fox News is just fine with that!
Read moreFox Continues Its Trumped Up Racial Smears Of Oprah Winfrey Over Trayvon Martin
Yesterday, I called Fox News’ Jesse Watters’ racial scolding of Oprah Winfrey hilariously hypocritical given the shocking race baiting that is so common on Fox and given that Oprah’s comments - about Trayvon Martin’s death - were very mild. And she had admonished the public not to forget “how far we’ve come.” But Watters’ reproof was nothing compared to the smears doled out on the Hannity show tonight in which they falsely accused Winfrey of racial demagoguery. And the hypocrisy was off-the-chart worse given Sean Hannity’s much more troubling record of race baiting. Especially since Hannity, like Watters, ignored Winfrey’s almost effusive praise for the United States that was made in the same interview. Nevertheless, Hannity suggested that Winfrey had successfully hidden her racial animosity until now.
Read moreHannity, Duncan And Gohmert Gaga For Government Shutdown – For Your Own Good
In the upside down world of Fox News, shutting down the government in order to block Obamacare – legislation that was enacted by Congress and upheld by the U.S. Supreme Court – was presented as the patriotic, public-spirited thing to do, thanks to the rabid partisanship of Sean Hannity and his two like-minded guests last night, Congressmen Louie Gohmert (R-TX) and Jeff Duncan (R-SC). Not only that, the three talking heads – each of whom undoubtedly have Cadillac health insurance plans for themselves – argued that blocking coverage for the rest of America was looking out for the little guy. Really.
Read moreShannon Bream Pushes Homophobic Agenda Re Discarded Language In Anti-Discrimination Ordinance
The newest weapon in the homophobic religious right's arsenal against "the gay agenda," is their attempt to assert that anti-discrimination measures violate their religious freedom because, they fantasize, good Christians will be prosecuted for talking about how God hates fags. As the mouthpiece for the religious right, Fox official News has jumped on board the homophobic bandwagon with Shannon Bream's "fair & balanced" discussion during which Bream promoted right wings smears about a proposed San Antonio anti-discrimination ordinance. The part of the ordinance, which stipulated that any person who has a documented history of discrimination will not be appointed to any municipal or contracted position, caused right wing Christians to freak out with bizarre claims such as Todd Starnes' unfounded speculation that those who oppose gay marriage and who go to church will be barred from employment. Not only is this false; but the offensive language was eliminated as a result of pressure from the persecuted Christians - something not mentioned by Bream who had no problem pushing the homophobic propaganda on her "fair & balanced" news show.

Fox News has found a new way to politicize the terrorism threat and, predictably, it involves smearing President Obama. But substitute host David Webb and Andrea Tantaros also used the occasion to whip up some Islamophobia, with a little help from Bob Beckel.

If ever you needed proof that the Fox News/GOP-beloved Benghazi-Gate is a phony scandal, check out how Laura Ingraham, substitute host on The O’Reilly Factor tonight, could not explain what the scandal is when challenged to do so by Alan Colmes.
Read moreFox News' Erick Erickson calls Wendy Davis 'Abortion Barbie'
Apparently, Fox News contributor Erick Erickson just can't or won't stop making sexist comments - and Fox News doesn't seem to care. Today's example, Erickson's tweet in which he referred to Texas State Senator Wendy Davis, a heroine to the pro-choice movement for her epic filibuster of a Texas anti-abortion bill, as "abortion Barbie."
Read moreOprah Winfrey The Latest African American Under Racial Attack On Fox News
Fox News’ Jesse Watters was so hilariously hypocriticial when he called himself “disappointed” in Oprah Winfrey for not working to “elevate the conversation” about race and “add a little unity,” I don’t know how anyone on The Five set with him at the time didn’t fall into uncontrollable laughter. If you don’t recognize Watters’ name, he’s the ambush producer for Bill O’Reilly (you know, the guy who couldn’t get over how nobody at a restaurant in Harlem was screaming, “M-Fer, I want more iced tea”) and the proprietor of Fox Nation, the “America loving” website where we have found so murderous wishes toward public officials that we have repeatedly reported them to the Secret Service, the White House and other authorities.
