Last week, Sean Hannity hosted an hour-long special designed to prove that the Affordable Care Act is "disastrous" and has provided "one big headache after another." During the show, Hannity trotted out three married couples to relate their horror stories with Obamacare. But a Salon.com writer became suspicious, did a little research, and found out some inconvenient truths to suggest that each could have been helped, not hurt, by the ACA if only the couples hadn't decided in advance they hated the law so much they didn't bother to check out the possibilities. And if only the Hannity show had bothered to do any honest fact checking. (h/t reader Jane S.)

Congressman C.W. “Bill” Young is gravely ill but still alive - despite a report by Fox News’ Gretchen Carlson earlier today that he had died. It’s the kind of mistake we’d expect Fox to make about a Democrat. But, surprisingly, Young is a Republican.

In a Fox News twofer, The Five found an excuse to attack both Oprah Winfrey and atheists today as they discussed why atheists are angry at the talk show host over comments she made about God during an interview with swimmer Diana Nyad. The segment was set up to criticize atheists - and the five co-hosts fell in line. But the segment also deliberately raised questions about Winfrey. 

It's not just your humble correspondent who has noticed that the divinely inspired Bill O'Reilly seems to be quite interested in the career and activities of Miley Cyrus. When O'Reilly visited The View, on October 1st, guest host Jason Biggs asked O'Reilly about Ms. Cyrus because O'Reilly "talks a lot about her." O'Reilly denied that he does so and explained his paternal interest in her. Given the multitude of Factor shows, throughout the years, O'Reilly is correct in that he hasn't talked "a lot" about Cyrus. But his fascination with what she does and what she wears has stretched across the years and he still wants to be her daddy. 

Robin Leach, of Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous fame, visited Fox & Friends yesterday to complain that there are “so few” rich people left in America that he wouldn’t be able to do his show any more. And guess which president and his “socialist” policies are to blame?

Take heart, Tea Partiers. If you’re feeling down because Senator Ted Cruz’ government shutdown stunt did little more than cost the country $24 billion, bludgeon Republican standings and, rather than defund and destroy Obamacare, make it more popular, you’ll be glad to know that Cruz and his Tea Party shutdown pal, Senator Mike Lee, are not at all discouraged by the end of the shutdown. They have not only vowed to fight on, Cruz has named the IRS as his next target.

This morning, Piers Morgan explained on Howard Stern’s SiriusXM radio show why he describes Bill O’Reilly as “a dick.” Hint: It has to do with O’Reilly arrogantly snubbing Morgan and later asking for a photo on behalf of his (O’Reilly’s) daughter.

Bill O'Reilly once advised the folks to ignore their "enemies." But Bill's inability to follow his own advice or, dare we say, hypocrisy, was shown by last night's O'Reilly screed in which he savaged those who do not believe that the divinely inspired "Killing Jesus" is the most awesome book evah. The devoutly Catholic O'Reilly framed his discussion around how the evil, librul media and "the left" despise religion - a popular victim card played by those who claim that it's the poor who play the victim. But the discussion was really all about poor Bill as it soon morphed into O'Reilly's patented baseless attacks on those who, I guess, are Bill's "enemies" because they dare to deride his faith (of which he is such a stellar example). Howard Kurtz tried to add some reason to the discussion; but as is true in life writ large, those who are "faith based" can be quite unreasonable! 

In case you’re wondering how Fox News plans to spin the pending deal to end the government shutdown, we got a good glimpse earlier today on America’s News HQ. Not surprisingly, it casts the Republican-caused shutdown as a plus for the economy and blamed President Obama for lacking leadership on the budget (read: enact Republican spending cuts).
