Fox Airs Ray Rice Video And Goes Over Its Own Line ‘For Shock Value’
Last week, Fox News executive vice president Michael Clemente said of an elevator video showing football player Ray Rice hitting his then fiancée that Fox would no longer air the video because “continuing to show it is simply overdoing it for shock value, and not for journalistic reasons.” Either Clemente was overruled or some of his underlings went rogue three times that same day.

It's just not Rick Santorum and Bill O'Reilly who think that legalization of same sex marriage will have some unexpected consequences. Joining those who use the specter of legalized interspecies coupling, in arguing against same sex marriage, is Fox News' Jesus loving, homo hating, and gay pride parade couture observing Todd Starnes. And it's just not same sex marriage that's a problem - equal rights for gays is leading to more persecution of Christians. And if Brooklyn's Park Slope ace Christian culture clubber Starnes says it's a slippery slope, it must be true.

No sooner had the news broken that ISIS had beheaded British aid worker David Haines than Fox was ready to blame President Obama for it.
Read moreOn Outnumbered: Scary Jihadists Among Us Message Countered By Montel Williams
Fox News knows the value of propaganda reinforcement. Thus, when Fox sees a story that underscores one of their popular memes, it is repeated throughout several shows. The story about the killing of a young man, allegedly at the hands of a self-proclaimed Islamic jihadist, fits several Fox memes which seek to foment fear and thus further divide an already divided (thank you Fox News) country. As demonstrated in alleged "news" host Martha MacCallum's coverage, Brendan Tevlin's killing, in promoting fear of domestic jihadism, advances the scary Muslim meme. The other important propaganda message is that the evil, librul media just isn't paying attention to this act. And just to make sure that you get the message, the leggy ladies on "Outnumbered" repeated it later in the day, although Montel Williams pushed back and when he did, it got really interesting!
Read moreFox News War On Welfare: Legal Marijuana Edition
Fox’s Tucker Carlson teamed up with a Colorado Republican representative to make you think they’ve got proof that poor people are using welfare funds to buy pot - with a wink, wink from the Democratic governor who just happens to be running for re-election. The truth is far less salacious or even damning. Yet Carlson must have been too busy eating up every talking point the GOP handed him to do any research.

Tonight, Bill Maher hosted a panel discussion about the polarization of our country – and he fingered Fox News as the main culprit. He got major applause from the audience in response.

When pro-life Christian Scott Roeder was arrested for killing abortion provider Dr. George Tiller, Fox talkers, as far as I can recall, were not outraged and did not label this man a domestic terrorist. The same could be said about Frazier Glenn Cross, an anti-Semitic member of a "white patriot" group, who was arrested after a shooting at a Jewish Community Center. But the supposedly fair & balanced Fox News sees the alleged murder of a white teenager, by an African-American man who claims to be acting in accordance with Islamic teachings, as another example of the supposedly rampant black on white crime and domestic Islamic terrorism. This morning, "news" reporter Martha MacCallum validated a low rated radio talk show host's assertion that the tragic killing of Brendan Tevlin, a young white man, by a black man claiming to be a jihadist, is an example of "domestic terrorism already here." Be afraid, folks, be very afraid.

Sarah Palin – fresh from her family brawl in Anchorage – made a startling statement on the Hannity show tonight when she seemed to blame herself for John McCain’s loss in 2008. Or maybe not.

Fusion’s Jorge Ramos conducted a lengthy interview with Bill O’Reilly in the No Spin Zone this week. In it, O’Reilly revisited his denial of white privilege, insisted he doesn’t play political favorites, is a “traditional,” not a conservative” and, perhaps inadvertently revealing the journalistic restraints he’s under on Fox, said he gave George W. Bush “the hardest questions I could give him.” But it was O’Reilly’s explanation for gullibility over Iraq’s WMDs that really grabbed me.

When the right wing brays about American exceptionalism, they are not, I suspect, bragging about record obesity and diabetes rates among American youth. Yet, America's patriotic newsroom seems to be promoting the kind of unhealthy eating which contributes to the rising cost of health care. As a result of bi-partisan legislation, American schools are now required to provide healthier school lunches. But never wasting an opportunity for partisan politics, Fox & Friends is using this positive step towards good nutrition in order to slam our First Lady whose healthy kids initiative was a basis for the law. America's morning propaganda show now features stories about public school students who are "starving" because the FLOTUS' "food police" are forcing schools to provide smaller and healthier portions and this, of course, is a violation of American freedom! Yesterday, Steve Doocy rushed to the defense of "starving" students whose school is eliminating junk food from its vending machines!!!!!! Oh, no......
