If you were wondering how Fox News would find a way to blame the attempted attack on a train in France (thwarted by three Americans and a Brit), your wait is over. With some help from an Obama-bashing former assistant FBI director, Fox & Friends got down to it this morning.
You may recall that former assistant FBI director Ron Hosko teamed up with Megyn Kelly last November to spin the news that Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson was probably not injured, as Fox had previously reported, after he shot and killed the unarmed Michael Brown. Rather than discuss the possible implications, Hosko and Kelly used the discussion to make a series of distracting, race baiting insinuations against Attorney General Eric Holder and President Obama. Apparently, Fox producers liked what they saw.
Fox & Friends cohost Anna Kooiman set the tone right in her introduction today.
KOOIMAN: We are learning the terrorist… was being watched by several countries and even fought for ISIS. Is this what happens when the Obama administration takes its eye off the war on terror?
Hosko, of course, was there to answer in the affirmative. But just in case he didn’t get the hint, Kooiman gave him another one in her first question.
KOOIMAN: We are starting to see so many of these attacks, it seems like we’re reporting them, you know, once a week, whether they are inspired or part of the organization, doesn’t more need to be done and shouldn’t the Obama administration be spearheading it?
Hosko, predictably agreed. But he didn’t give quite the Obama-blaming answer Kooiman hinted she wanted. Hosko said that with “at least three different countries looking at this person,” the question is, “Who was the quarterback? Who was in charge of this person for monitoring and determining what the priority is to put resources towards him?” Hosko later said it didn’t look like anybody was in charge. He also said that in the current terrorism environment of “ISIS-style recruitment,” there isn’t much time between recruitment and terror attack.
So cohost Steve Doocy prompted Hosko a little harder to blame President Obama.
DOOCY: Ron, I understand you told one of our producers that with the exodus of U.S. military from Afghanistan and also Iraq, that means there are fewer intel boots on the ground over there which means it’s hard to tell what people have got brewing all over the world.
“That’s right,” Hosko agreed. “That to me is a key concern. When we pulled out of Afghanistan and Iraq, in huge numbers, we also pulled out intel resources.”
In fact, the suspect has no apparent ties to either Afghanistan or Iraq.
But this crew didn’t let a little detail like that interfere with their blame game. Watch them play it below, from the August 24 Fox & Friends, via Media Matters.
The Obama administration could declare government research has cured all forms of cancer and Fox News clowns like ‘weather guy’ Steve Doocy would overflow their diapers he’s putting doctors and nurses out of work! ;^0
