On Fox, Liz Cheney Calls Torturers ‘Heroes’

Last night, the Hannity show “analyzed” President Obama’s comments characterizing the CIA’s “enhanced interrogation” program under the Bush/Cheney administration as “torture.” So whom did Fox call on for some of its typically “fair and balanced” commentary? Why, none other than Dick Cheney’s daughter, Liz Cheney. There were no pesky challenges from substitute host Monica Crowley, either.

Apparently, the brief clip of Obama saying, “We tortured some folks. …We did some things that were contrary to our values,” was so weighty that Fox thought five and a half minutes of Cheney was “balance.”

The warm “Hi,” Crowley gave Cheney at the beginning was just about all you needed to know about what was to come. But there were a few particulars worth noting, such as Cheney’s attempt to deflect and put all the blame on Obama for calling her father’s program “torture.” She never once defended a single practice nor explained how it “kept us safe.”

You know, Monica, this president is an utter disgrace. He’s got a situation where, as your last two reports showed, you’ve got crises erupting around the world and he is expending more time, more energy, more passion, more aggressive activity in targeting and going after patriots, heroes, CIA officers and others who kept us safe after 9/11. He’s lying about what they did, he’s slandering them. He went to Cairo and did it in 2009. Today, he did it from the podium of the Oval Office. It’s a disgrace. It’s despicable.

Crowley never asked what lie Obama told nor did she challenge Cheney’s suggestion that Obama lied to malign the CIA. Even though the report on which Obama based his remarks was prepared by the Senate Intelligence Committee. More importantly, Crowley never asked Cheney to defend any of the practices that Obama called torture. Instead, Crowley helped deflect by offering one of her many conspiracy theories:

Do you think he is invoking what the Bush/Cheney administration did after 9/11 because his plate is now full of cascading scandals and international crises – in large part a direct result of his immediate weakness as Commander-in-Chief and so he’s going to trying to fight battles from the early 2000s?

“Well, absolutely, Monica,” Cheney said. “He really would like to change the subject.”

It takes one to know one, Liz! Even more ironically, she complained that Obama “seems to take no responsibility whatsoever for anything that’s happened on his watch.”

Oh, you mean like Papa Dick Cheney took responsibility for the Iraq war? Oh, that’s right, he didn’t.

“The president of the United States is now leading the nation at a moment when the threat from terror is growing across the world when he’s done absolutely about it,” Cheney continued.

No, Obama was just the one who actually killed Bin Laden and got Americans out of the "brief" "cakewalk" of the 10-year Iraq war started under false pretenses. Oh, and by the way? Which president had a major terror attack happen on American soil even after being warned?

Again, Crowley seemed to love every word from Cheney’s mouth. “It’s really pathetic,” Crowley agreed.

No, what’s really pathetic is that this piece of self-serving, partisan propaganda should be allowed to present itself as news.

@ doors17 True — but in my honest opinion, listening to her mom (Lynne Cheney) is FAR, FAR WORSE! She makes the late “Queen of Mean” Leona Helmsley look like Mahatma Gandhi.

After her failed Senate bid, LizardBreath is only left with trying to polish the Dumbya-Dickhead legacy turd.

From Joseph West’s comment:

“It’s so much easier to badmouth Obama when you have never put your sorry ass on the line in the service of your country. It’s also kind of funny that she out-Palined Palin in the “Quitter Olympics.” At least Palin served a couple of years as Governor of Alaska before quitting…”

Yes indeed Joseph. I definitely believe Princess Moose-alini’s (i.e. Palin) son by default qualifies as a CHICKENHAWK also. How much do you want to bet he was probably STUFFING HIS FACE 24/7 with pizza, bon-bons and other VERY FATTENING FOODS during his “service time” inside the fortified green zone at his cushy desk job inside the fortified green zone in Iraq?

@ Homeboy Halligan Which has naturally led to the U.S. becoming ONE OF THE MOST HATED NATIONS ON EARTH, especially in the Arab world. Mark my words: the Palestinians and the rest of the Arab world quickly came to the following conclusion after their humiliation in the 1967 Six Day War by Israel:

AS LONG AS THERE’S A UNITED STATES, THERE WILL BE AN ISRAEL.

’Nuff said.

Maybe Liz should volunteer to be tortured by some of her “heroes” so she can experience first-hand the “hard work” of those “heroes.”

Of course, she won’t. That would require her to turn in her chickenhawk card. It’s so much easier to badmouth Obama when you have never put your sorry ass on the line in the service of your country. It’s also kind of funny that she out-Palined Palin in the “Quitter Olympics.” At least Palin served a couple of years as Governor of Alaska before quitting; Cheney quit the Wyoming GOP primary a full 7 months before it even happened.

It’s understandable how much more bitter and hateful the bitch has become. After all, the name Cheney will forever be associated with the most stupid military decision in U.S. history invading Iraq as a reaction to 9/11

It's hard to know which is worse, Cheney's despicable "defense" of torture by attacking Obama or Fox News' promotion of it.
