Bill O’Reilly has a bone to pick with Rep. Michele Bachmann and it has nothing to do with any of the crazy lies she tells. No, it’s because she’s from Minnesota, the state that is about to re-elect Sen. Al Franken.
O’Reilly has a long-standing feud with Franken that includes a lawsuit brought by Fox News, partly because the word “lies” was written over a picture of O’Reilly on the cover of Franken’s book, “Lies, and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them: A Fair and Balanced Look at the Right.” The suit was laughed out of court. But O’Reilly never mentioned that detail which just might color his feelings (and Fox’s) toward Franken.
In the beginning of O'Reilly's interview with Bachmann Tuesday night, the two discussed ISIS (within the context of bashing President Obama, of course).
But at about three minutes in, O’Reilly announced, “I gotta go after Minnesota now. I have to.”
He continued:
You know, I like Minnesota. You know I’ve been there many times. …Terrific place. But Al Franken is inexplicable. You know, it looks like he’s gonna win re-election. This is a man who’s voted 100% for every single Obama policy, even though the Obama presidency now looks like it’s a failed presidency. How can Minnesotans re-elect this kind of an individual? I’m not getting it. …He’s up 49-36 over some guy I’ve never heard of on the Republican side.
As he spoke, b-roll footage of Franken appeared on the screen. It indicated that O’Reilly planned this Franken-bash session in advance.
Bachmann argued that Franken “is not representing the average Minnesotan” and “it’s a matter of getting the message out.” She meant that the challenger is hurting for money.
O’Reilly wasn’t buying it. “Well, why don’t Minnesotans give it to him because this is a disgrace! It’s a disgrace!”
O’Reilly went on to say, “I don’t do election politics like this. But I tell you what. If that Franken is re-elected, Minnesota will never live it down. It’s unbelievably embarrassing.”

“O’Reilly has a long-standing feud with Franken……”
And here’s the reason why: at a book signing that was nationally covered by C-SPAN back in 2003, Sen. Al Franken TOTALLY UNDRESSED AND EXPOSED Bully O’Lielly for what he really is: the KING of the “born on third base but thinks he hit a triple” windbags!
’Nuff said.
“Damn, BOR can sure hold a grudge. He’s such a thin-skinned, petty punk. Franken was and will again be elected by the people of his state. He has more influence on policy/the direction of this country than BOR does — and BOR can’t freakin’ stand it. LOL!”
It’s not only that d d. I believe I know the REAL reason why Bully O’Lielly and Sen. Al Franken will ALWAYS, ALWAYS BE ARCH ENEMIES: way back in 2003, O’Lielly and Franken appeared at a book signing that was broadcast on C-SPAN. Naturally, O’Lielly was EXTREMELY RUDE AND TOTALLY OBNOXIOUS when Franken was speaking — O’Lielly was CONSTANTLY trying to drown out Franken by repeatedly shouting “SHUT UP! SHUT UP!” — and in my opinion, if it wasn’t for the big crowd that appeared at this book signing, there is ABSOLUTELY, POSITIVELY NO DOUBT IN MY MIND that O’Lielly would have sucker-punched Franken. This encounter is covered in one of the chapters of Franken’s best-selling book “Lies And The Lying Liars Who Tell Them: A Fair And Balanced Look At The Right” (I have a copy of this book). As Ellen pointed out at the top of this thread, back in 2005 O’Lielly and Faux Spews tried to sue Franken for copyright infringement because of the words “fair and balanced” in the title of Franken’s book. This lawsuit was quickly THROWN OUT — and you can bet the house that O’Lielly’s boss Herr Goebbels II (i.e. Rupert Murdoch, CEO of News Corporation, the parent company of Faux Spews) was VERY P**SED OFF at O’Lielly due to the MILLIONS OF $‘s he probably had to shell out in lawyers’ fees.
“Egomaniac had his feelings hurt by Senator Frankenstein…….”
Dear Hulk: you DO realize the senator’s last name is pronounced “FRONK-en-steen”, don’t you?
;^)
[Relax, I was just kidding — I just HAD to get that line from Mel Brooks’ classic picture “Young Frankenstein” in!]
And then, to add insult to injury, last night Colbert answered back to BOR’s rant about Colbert and his ilk supposedly being dumb ideologues. It was an epic take-down – “Bill, Papa Bear . . . you’re a f*cking egomaniac.” Poor BOR, Colbert and Franken win (and will win) again.
