Megyn Kelly turned to the discredited, no-smear-is-too-ridiculous Ben Shapiro tonight in a deliberate attempt to use the Israeli/Palestinian conflict to attack President Obama. Sure enough, he complied. In spades. UPDATED
Just as she did with the Chicago violence yesterday, Kelly was obviously more focused on exploiting a bad situation for political gain than in actually discussing it. Otherwise, she would never have chosen Shapiro as a guest. According to Shapiro’s biography, he has no military experience, no foreign policy credentials and no Middle East expertise. That’s not counting Shapiro’s bogus attempt to smear Chuck Hagel as a recipient of funds from a non-existent “Friends of Hamas” organization. Or his ridiculous “race tape exclusive” exposing whom Obama hugged in 1990.
In any event, Kelly deliberately egged Shapiro on when she asked if there had been anything the U.S. could have done to avoid the military confrontation between Israel, Palestine and Hamas that they are on the “precipice” of. As if Shapiro is in a position to really know.
Predictably, he said there was. But rather than dwell on what steps the U.S. should have taken, other than to suggest the State Department should have threatened to withdraw aid from Palestine and not urged Israel to act with restraint, Shapiro moved quickly to smearing Obama:
This is an anti-Israel administration. It’s the first administration in American history that is obviously anti-Israel. It’s borderline a Jew-hating administration. …The daylight that has been created between the United States and Israel has emboldened Israel’s enemies and enemies of the United States.
To her credit, Kelly did challenge that. She said, “How do you say that? I mean, that Iron Dome system, Ben, that they are using so effectively in Israel tonight was largely funded in part by the United States, hundreds of millions of dollars, under President Barack Obama.”
Shapiro argued that Obama did so because it would be “politically unpalatable” not to. But, he added, “That doesn’t mean the president of the United States can’t undermine Israel’s ability to take out the people who are going after it.”
I have no doubt Shapiro will be back on Fox again soon.
Watch Fox exploit a dangerous situation for its own partisan purposes below.
UPDATE: Talking Points Memo explains why The Kelly File almost surely knew what Shapiro would say, even as Kelly worked to distance herself from his comment.
’Cause nothing says “this Administration hates Jews”, quite like celebrating Passover IN the White House:

But, then again, Shapiro’s nothing more than your typical chicken-hawk, willing to risk other people’s lives while sitting back in the safety of his own home. And, on top of it, he’s one of the JACs (Jewish-American Chickenhawks) who put the well-being of Israel over the well-being of the US.
I personally think the Israelis are governed by a pack of bullies, does that mean I won’t sit at a table with a Israeli immigrant? Shake a Jewish person’s hand? friend them on Facebook? No- It simply means that I think the people who are currently in charge of Israel are bullies, that are cashing a check their military can’t cash, and think “Christian” America will bail them out over religious connotations.
Who knew that saying “Clean up your own mess!” would make you a racist? I know I didn’t…
Pretty Boy Ben is a piece of work. He is not like among some conservatives, particularly one who lives in Northern CA, and he knows exactly who were are talking about.
The Fox “News” suits need to fire the stylists. These bimbettes don’t know how to style hair or dress these Fox “News” mouthpieces.
Legs Ailes’ dress is atrocious. Who wears that at a news broadcast? Is this cocktail hour or a news broadcast? For a “lawyer” she has poor judgement in apparel.
