Is Sean Hannity Too Chicken To Talk About The Las Vegas Shootings?

Posted by Ellen -7859.80pc on June 10, 2014 · Flag

Sean Hannity took no time last night to cover the shootings in Las Vegas over the weekend, even though two police officers were executed by fans of Hannity’s BFF-until-it-was-inexpedient, outlaw rancher Cliven Bundy. We agreed with Charles Pierce, writing in Esquire, when he wrote in April that Hannity’s promotion of Bundy’s lawlessness was going to help get somebody killed. Now that it has, Hannity seems to be hiding from the story.

The New York Times explains how Jerad Miller and Amanda Miller cold-bloodedly murdered two police officers in Las Vegas before heading to a nearby Walmart for more killing:

It was around 11:20 a.m. on Sunday when the Millers reached the CiCi’s Pizza, where Officers Alyn Beck, 41, and Igor Soldo, 31, were eating lunch. Mr. Miller shot Officer Soldo in the back of the head at close range. Officer Beck then tried to draw his weapon, but Mr. Miller shot him in the throat. The couple fired several more rounds into Officer Beck when he did not die immediately, Sheriff McMahill said.

The Times also noted:

They draped one officer’s body in a swastika and a yellow “Don’t Tread on Me” flag that has been adopted as a symbol of the Tea Party. On the other, they pinned a note warning of “the beginning of the revolution,” a phrase they also shouted, the police said.

Not surprisingly, the Millers were Bundy fans and traveled to his ranch to support him, until they were reportedly asked to leave because of Jerad Miller’s criminal record.

In April, Pierce wrote in Esquire:

Not to put too fine a point on it but, one day, Sean Hannity, or someone very much like him, is going to help get somebody killed. Back in 2005, Hannity, and a lot of someones very much like him, ginned up a mob during the Terri Schiavo situation in Florida. Ultimately, this resulted in bomb scares that closed an elementary school down the block from the hospice in which Ms. Schiavo was being cared for, death threats against judges that were serious enough that they had federal marshals sleeping in their living rooms, and a bounty on the head of Michael Schiavo that one guy got arrested for trying to collect.

As I posted in late April, Hannity all but stated outright that he hoped Bundy and his militia-type supporters would start an armed conflict with the government. But once Bundy was exposed as a blatant bigot, Hannity didn’t just run from any personal responsibility for promoting him, he played the victim whenever anyone thought he bore some.

Now, Hannity is too cowardly or dishonest – or both – to talk about the awful Las Vegas shooting. As our own Priscilla noted, if the shooters had been members of the New Black Panther Party or militant Muslims, it would have been big news.

And Hannity isn’t the only one. Bill O’Reilly didn’t discuss it, either. Megyn Kelly dispatched the story in four sentences.

Apparently, Fox would prefer to sweep this under the rug along with the violent repercussions left in the wake of its Terri Schiavo coverage and its jihad against Dr. Tiller (in which O'Reilly played the victim). And, of course, Hannity’s promise to be waterboarded to prove it’s not torture.

We just can’t let them.

Watch a video montage below showing what Hannity did want to cover last night, including a visit to his racist pals at the Duck Dynasty compound.

Eh, Vis 55, that’s the way it goes when deniers like @rick Blaine refuse to acknowledge the facts put in front of their face. Golly, he could have at least said thank you for the links. LOL!

@ Mark Jeffries

OOPS!

Sorry Mark — I TOTALLY FORGOT about that sale — Thanks for the correction — BUT I’m STILL sticking with my assertion that the Huffington Post HAS really leaned rightward since they were bought by AOL. Here’s my principal reason why: when I submitted a few 100% TRUTH-FILLED POSTS about “Five Deferment Dick” Cheney a few weeks ago after he bashed President Obama again, THEY WERE INSTANTLY DELETED!

Rich: Time Warner sold off AOL in 2009. They have no direct connection with Time Warner. I’m on your side, but you do jump to conclusions.

From Rick Blaine’s comment:

“The Huffington Post is a right-wing website ?”

Dear Rick: Here is a COLD, HARD IRREFUTABLE FACT:

The Huffington Post has REALLY TILTED RIGHTWARD since they were bought by AOL several years ago. Don’t forget: AOL is owned by Time Warner, the BIGGEST RIGHTWING MEDIA CONGLOMERATE IN THE WORLD — and remember, they also own CNN, which is why I sometimes call CNN “Faux Spews Channel Lite”. Like Visitor 55 pointed out earlier, rightwing “s**tsites” will NEVER, EVER REPORT THE FULL STORY — they will ONLY report what they WANT you to believe. Always remember:

HALF-TRUTHS ALWAYS = LIES!

Off topic: has anybody seen anything on Fox about the Summit against sexual violence in conflict that is taking place in London this week?
This is indeed a worthy cause and I’m betting that FNC won’t even mention it, even though CNN has already given it a lot of attention.

I’ll gladly break it to you, @rick Blaine – there ARE several sites besides this one that are reporting that Miller HIMSELF said he was asked to leave because he is a felon. Apparently, the LGF’s link wasn’t good enough for you so here’s a link to Miller’s own post.

Miller’s own original post:
https://plus.google.com/app/basic/stream/z12ygxirpx3vct3zb04cdbkrjqr4fvkye20

“I was out there but they told me and my wife to leave because I am a felon. They don’t seem to understand that they are all felons now for intimidating law enforcement with deadly weapons. So don’t tell you that they need people. We sold everything we had to buy supplies and quit our jobs to be there 24/7. How dare you ask for help and shun us dedicated patriots!”

This Mother Jones article says nothing about them being asked to leave because their views were too “radical”. Neither does the HuffPo link.

I recall when Vigilante George Zimmerman stalked and executed an unarmed black teenager. During the ensuing trial, Fux Noise deflected by reporting endlessly on any black-on-white crime anywhere in the USA. If you watched only Fux, you would swear that all real crime was committed by blacks only and the victims were white only.

I couldn’t care less why they were asked to leave the Bundy hate-fest even though that seemed at the time to be just about as off-the-wall crazy as possible. In reality, the Bundy supporters stopped just short of actually pulling the trigger. Unfortunately, at least two of the crazies who were there were even crazier than the others and they decided to go out and “shoot’em some cops”.

I hope (cannot say “trust”) that this shooting will cause some of the more reasonable haters (I know that’s an oxymoron but I remain optimistic) to realise that words really and truly DO HAVE CONSEQUENCES.

While the vast majority of the hate-talkers (Bundy et al included, it seems) do not actually intend to pull the trigger, their vile speech is encouraging the truly bottom-of-the-barrel crazies like the Millers to do so.

Anyway, for me, the worse thing that FNC has ever but ever done is smear a man whose only crime has been to try desperately to “connect” with the captors of his son. There are reports out there that the Bergdahls actually lived by the RW book (home schooling, devotion to the evangelical faith, etc.). The fact is that they really walked the talk when it came to listening to one’s conscience is both unforgiveable for FNC and enheartening to me.

Rick,
In the MJ article that Ellen linked, it say “criminal past.”
Rick Blaine commented 2014-06-11 02:04:42 -0400 · Flag
Hate to break this to you but as far as I can determine this is the only site that is reporting that they were asked to leave because he had a criminal record. Everywhere else (including Mother Jones , TheWashington Times and The Huffington Post ,) is saying they were asked to leave because their views were too radical. If somebody can post a link to a source that says otherwise I would like to see it.

In FoxWorld, if you can’t twist a story enough to make it fit your preferred narrative, you just pretend it doesn’t exist.

@rick Blaine
I’ve seen sources from Raw Story to Glenn Bek’s “The Blaze” to Business Insider to Mother Jones to The Washington Times all reporting that Miller was asked to leave due to his felony record — and they are reporting that because Jerad Miller himself said they were asked to leave because of his criminal record.

You’re right, Rick… That’s why I judge the Bundy Ranch standoff by the guys who pointed sniper rifles at the cops, from 150 yards away, and behind concrete blocks. And I’m just petty enough to think that the participants who praised that kind of cowardly pre-emptiveness, while hosting platforms for their own “war agains’ da gubmit” fantasies might have been some kind of reflection on how they felt about it turning violent.

But I don’t judge it on Bundy himself saying he hoped it became a second Ruby Ridge, because that’d start a spiraling conflict, no- That’d be far too petty for anyone.

/Snark off/

Why don’t you go google there, son? Bundy’s on record wanting violence. His supporters put themselves on record wanting violence. There were people who showed up hoping for it, and spent their whole time there trained on the cops. The only way we can judge them compared to the rest of the Bundy Ranch crowd is that they felt the need to go a-shooting off the ranch.

KKKlannity will ignore this story until it goes away. However, you can bet that the next African-American who shoots a police officer will be electronically lynched by KKKlannity over endless days.
Rick Blaine commented 2014-06-10 20:08:19 -0400 · Flag
Do you have a source for that Eric? Because I’ve read numerous articles about this since it happened and this is the first time I’ve ever heard that it was his criminal record that got him thrown off the ranch. All the articles I’ve read have stated it was due to his radical views, not a one has mentioned his criminal record being the reason.
Eric Youngstrom commented 2014-06-10 20:03:49 -0400 · Flag
Rick, the only reason stated on them being asked to leave was the guys criminal record.
Rick Blaine commented 2014-06-10 20:01:37 -0400 · Flag
Considering that they were asked to leave the Bundy Ranch because their views were too radical I think its a bit ridiculous to try hold them up as an example of the type of people that were at the Bundy Ranch.

Klannity’s facebook page is loaded with people wanting to know why he isn’t talking this shooting. And like here, they want him to answer for his association with his former BFF Cliven Bundy, his support of the “great, patriotic Americans” who loaded their pickups up with weapons and headed to Bundy’s ranch to protect “freedom” and his silence about the use of the Gasden flag and swastika, both used to drape the bodies of two dead cops, cops that Klannity claims he backs and supports.

His next move, if any – he peddles the usual claim that these two don’t represent the Bundy’s or the Baggers, just two lone nuts. Of course, any one thing that happened at any OWS rally was indicative of the entire movement, per Slanthead.

He sure is eager to get any former soldier on who knew Bergdahl to get him to criticize and slam him. How about a six-minute segment with the wives and families of the two dead cops from Vegas??? Ask them the same type of leading questions you ask these former soldiers. See where that goes.

I wrote I called his show yesterday. Got nothing but a “he isn’t discussing it” and a quick hang-up from the screener. This coward knows what he is responsible for, just like Charles Pierce predicted in his column from April. Klannity, Jones, Beck and O’Loofah are going to have a lot more blood staining their hands to go along with what’s on them already.

@priscilla: Didn’t Glenn Beck inspire that cop killer? I’m trying to remember if that happened during his time at Fox.

About the actual topic: Hannity wants to stay as invisible as possible until this is old news. Antoinette brought up Jared Miller’s social media on another thread, and I second you go look at it. Even without Fox News on his likes list, it reads like he gets all his TV info from there, all his radio info from Alex Jones, and he’s apparently a Tea Partier who worships Rand and Ron Paul. Seriously, look at his interests:

https://www.facebook.com/jerad.miller.1/likes

Yeah, Just that’s more than enough. I’m sure Fox’s commentary end is gonna stay reeeal quiet about this one. And how much you wanna bet that what does get said about it is the very definition of selective?
d d commented 2014-06-10 18:57:31 -0400 · Flag
And F&F didn’t have any segments on the shooting either yesterday or today. Info about the shootings was simply read off the teleprompter by Heather Nauert as a news headline on both days. The 3 stooges and the FOX “news” producers (Ailes?) deliberately chose not to discuss the story at all. Like Ellen said, had it been Muslims, etc. doing the killings, F&F would have designed segments with guests to discuss the whys, the influences, the connections with full-on speculations et al. But government-hatin’, Gadsden flag-lovin’, white supremacists? Eh, nothing to see here…move along, folks.

If Daddy Douchey and his cohorts ever think of calling out another media outlet with the charge of “media bias”, they had better take a long, hard look in the mirror first. Yeah, I know – like that would ever happen. They have no conscience and operate with double standards.

Sean Hannity has now joined Bill O’Reilly as the second Fox host to create a climate of hatred in which innocent people were killed. But Sean and Bill are American patriots and pro-life, so it’s all good….

This is what happens when irresponsible people
with access to a microphone or a TV camera
whip RWNJ’s & psychopaths into a FRENZY!
‘Instigator in Chief’, Sean Hannity, along with Limbaugh, Kelly, & the rest, pushed the
Bundy Klan in front of their cameras, repeatedly
asking Do you think they will KILL your father?
What will you do if they come in the darkness of
night? OH! What will you DO? Hannity himself said
he was on the way there to support them! These
RADICALS were INSPIRED by SOMEONE to sell
everything they owned and go to the Bundy Ranch.
Had they not heard these TWISTED tales on FoX, those
Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Officers & Mr. Wilcox may well have returned home to their families that night.

Just another example of Slanthead Hannity’s extreme hypocrisy! He can try to ignore it as much as he wants, but these increasingly frequent shootings and other acts of violence by ultra right wingers are getting closer and closer to directly implicating him as inspiration if not the instigator!

One of these days, the police or feds investigating the latest neo-Nazi white separatist’s computer and other possessions will discover a full assortment of Hannocchio videos, other web material and maybe even 8×10 glossies of our boy Sean.

The question then becomes how soon they’ll move to arrest and charge Slanthead with inciting violence and murder! Will they come for him at his 17-room North Shore mansion… or maybe at the Rockefeller Center home of his radio hatefest… or maybe even at the ugly Fox building a few blocks south? Will they try to put the cuffs on Seanny while he’s taping his teevee show? Do they know he’s always packing heat — two fully loaded Glocks with concealed carry permits according to his frequent boasting?

Since his show is apparently never live and they will obviously edit out Slanthead’s arrest, Ellen and other FNC “fans” will never get to see this!
