How Desperate Is Fox Nation To Smear Obama? So Desperate It Makes Steve Guttenberg's Criticisms Its Top Story

Posted by Ellen -7859.80pc on May 31, 2012 · Flag

Steve Guttenberg does not exactly seem to be on Hollywood's current A-List of celebrities. Not unless Mojave Phone Booth and Single Santa Seeks Mrs. Claus were more significant than I know. But he came out with some criticism of President Obama - and voila! it's the top story on Fox Nation, with the blaring headline,'POLICE ACADEMY' Star Rips Obama. Even though Guttenberg also says he loves Obama.

Fox Nation got its post from an interview Guttenberg did with CreditCards.com. Most of the interview is about his career and how he handles his finances. But near the end, Guttenberg said he has lost faith in our financial system. When asked if he thinks Washington can "rein in misbehavior," Guttenberg replied:

It's hard to believe in the presidency anymore. I voted for Obama, I love Obama, but I don't want to see Obama on "The View," I don't want to see him playing Frisbee, I don't want to know that it's $40,000 a plate at George Clooney's house, and I adore George Clooney. Hey man, I've got a friend of mine who's got a $7 an hour job at Dunkin Donuts and he can't get a $9 an hour job over at the country club because there are so many people in front of him. I believe that the president should be his desk all day. I don't want to see him on vacation, I don't want to see him at Martha's Vineyard, I don't want to see Mrs. Obama in Spain. No, no, I do not want to see that because everybody's struggling. These CEOs shouldn't be taking all this money. No Rolls Royces. No private planes.

To Fox Nation, Guttenberg's criticism of Obama was the biggest news of the day earlier today. But, hey, maybe Tony Danza dislikes Obama more.

Newshounds forgot to list this recent effort by the esteemed Mr. Guttenberg. It called “Duckwalls” and the summary is thus:

Chef Mickey Beans serves up the chow and more at this unstable group home! While the owner Dr Stern touches bases with the patients. Just long enough to get his fix.

Certainly sounds like a good reason to listen to a person about who the next president should be.

“I believe that the president should be his desk all day. I don’t want to see him on vacation, I don’t want to see him at Martha’s Vineyard, I don’t want to see Mrs. Obama in Spain.”

Well, Steve . . . you must’ve been REALLY pissed when Dumbya spent all that time at his fake ranch in Crawford — right?

“These CEOs shouldn’t be taking all this money. No Rolls Royces. No private planes.”

Whoa — FoKKKsNation must’ve missed this, in their zeal to highlight someone bashing President Obama . . . ordinarily, the mere SUGGESTION that the 1% are getting too much elicits howls of “class warfare!”, “punishing the rich for being successful!” and “socialist wealth redistribution!”

You’re right, Ellen — the desperation is showing . . .

Add Steve Guttenberg’s name to the long tally of D-List celebrities who get face time on Fux Noise in order to trash President Obama.

The current roster includes Pat Boone, Danny Bonaduce, Chuck Norris, Victoria Jackson, Kirk Cameron, Dennis Miller, Ted Nugent,
Stephen Baldwin, Janine Turner etc. ad nauseam infinitum.

Well, maybe Mr Guttenberg could help out his “friend…. who’s got a $7 an hour job at Dunkin Donuts”—maybe by giving him the phone number for his local wage and hour office for starters? If his “friend” is only making $7/hour, I’m pretty sure that’s a violation of minimum wage laws. There are only 5 states that have no state minimum wage and 4 states plus Puerto Rico that have minimum wages lower than the state wage. This info comes from the US Dept of Labor’s website which also states, “Where Federal and state law have different minimum wage rates, the higher standard applies.” If a state has a higher-than-Federal wage—something which applies to 18 states plus DC—that wage prevails. Now, I’m not sure where Mr Guttenberg lives (or where his “friend” lives) but I’m pretty sure his “friend” has a damn good lawsuit over being paid below minimum-wage rates. It’s not like Dunkin Donuts is a restaurant where employees get tipped (there’s no Dunkin’ Donuts where I live but I’ve been to Dunkin’ Donuts when I’ve been on vacation and I’ve never seen a tip jar in one—maybe I’ve been in the wrong places?) and minimum wage doesn’t apply. It’s a fast-food joint—like McDonalds or Burger King.

Really, I just don’t like people more successful than myself.

Maybe tomorrow Fox Nation can let us know if Tony Danza will "rip" Obama, too.
