Harris Faulkner: Anti-Trump Protests ‘Look Like Iran’

On Fox News today, “news anchor” Harris Faulkner did her part to promote a new McCarthyism in America by musing aloud that anti-Trump protesters just happen to remind her of angry Iranians.

Faulkner made it sound like she had just thought of an analogy between the protesters and angry Muslims on the spot, rather than thinking it up in advance, as she spoke with Fox News Democrat Doug Schoen.

FAULKNER: We’ve seen these protests now, this is the fifth day of them that we’ve seen in cities across America. And I mean, peaceful protesting is one thing. Some of these have not been. I’ve seen an effigy burned of Donald Trump. And I just, I ask the – you know, as you talk with people in your own party, what you’re saying, to take down the drama in all of this. We have a new president-elect. They didn’t do it with President Obama. We’ve never seen, really – I mean, I turned on the TV, it looked like Iran. They were burning effigies of someone. It was bizarre to me.

Somehow “news anchor” Faulkner “forgot” that yes, the right-wing did burn Barack Obama in effigy. Plus, among the daily smears and jeers from her colleagues after Obama was elected, Faulkner’s own Fox News network worked tirelessly to racially delegitimize our first African American president by bogusly suggesting he was born in Africa.

So I’m sorry, Harris, but until you apologize for the venom and divisiveness your own network spread about President Obama, I don’t think you have a scintilla of credibility to lecture anyone about protesters against Trump.

But, sadly, the situation is worse than Faulkner’s poisonous hypocrisy. I’ve already written that likely Trump-cabinet member Newt Gingrich wants to resurrect the McCarthy-esque House Un-American Activities Committee. Even if Faulkner isn’t deliberately trying to help that effort now, this blindly-loyal Trumpster surely will support it later.

Watch it below, from the November 13, 2016 Fox Report Weekend, and be warned.

From Kevin Koster’s comment:

“I am forced to agree with Ellen – the Right Wing is now going back to a strategy they were using during the W years – demonize anyone who doesn’t snap into line.

Just as they did with W, they are presenting free speech in protest as anarchy and/or treason."

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm, why do I have a VERY QUEASY feeling that “Orange Hitler” Trump and his new pal The Boy Who Cried ‘NUKE!’ (i.e. Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu) just might be plotting another “Reichstag Fire” incident, i.e. a big staged “terrorist attack” on a major American city, (probably Los Angeles or Chicago)? Remember what happened almost sixteen years ago when the late Antoin Scalia and his fellow reich-wingers on the Supreme Court gave Dumbya Bush the White House? Our nation was BITTERLY DIVIDED after that episode (and yes, I know this time around it’s FAR WORSE) — and the ONLY way Dumbya Bush (aka “Der Fuehrer II”) was able to unite Americans was, naturally, the 9/11 attacks. Naturally, like any other sane working class American I sure hope I’m proven wrong on a possible terrorist attack — but in light of what has happened over the past two weeks I believe one should keep this fact in mind:

IF THE CHICAGO CUBS CAN WIN A WORLD SERIES, ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE!

’Nuff said.

Truman,

That’s what I keep hearing from conservatives who reflexively vote GOP. Can’t vote Hillary reason they hate the Clintons. Trump doesn’t mean what he says and as long as he’s just f—king with people who don’t look and pray like them they’re fine with it.

There’s a special corner of Hell reserved for liars and traitors like these two.

At least there will be when it’s my turn to be God. (Was it more likely that Trump would be elected President than I would become Jesus John Almighty? I think not, friends).

@eof and David. I have an elderly neighbor who gets all of his news from Fux and/or OxyRush. He was cackling with delight when Orange Donald was elected. I asked him how he intended to pay for his own retirement and medical care when the GOP teabillies gutted Social Security and Medicare. He angrily retorted that that would not happen. He might have re-think that soon.

Shed a tear for Social Darwinist Paul Ryan and his neo-Fascist enabler, Orange Hitler. Just when their plate is so full crushing America’s social safety net this tidbit shows up:

“Family Caregiving Actually Costs So Much More Than Anyone Knew”

But there is hope. Any day now Harris and her Fox News buddies will be champion Soylent Green, the Republican solution to rising food costs. Who knew there were not only private sector solutions to elderly poverty but we can turn a tidy profit from it? ;^)

Excuse me as I go pop another Zoloft.

David,

The only good news is when, as I fear, the Republicans raise the SS retirement age to 70 I’ll have the glorious pleasure of telling several foaming to the point of irrationality right-wingers I know who’ll it’ll screw to the wall: “I told you so”. 😡

It may look like Iran now but it will start to look like Iraq pretty soon

I am forced to agree with Ellen – the Right Wing is now going back to a strategy they were using during the W years – demonize anyone who doesn’t snap into line.

Just as they did with W, they are presenting free speech in protest as anarchy and/or treason.

Ellen is also correct to note that the Right has no moral standing to make such pronouncements after spending years cheerleading “Tea Party” Obama haters and even featuring them as supposedly learned commentators on their airwaves.

The first message being sent is “We won, you lost, shut up or else”. The second message, which was sent a bit more explicitly by Conway yesterday, was creepily similar to the old Ari Fleischer line when she “warned” Harry Reid to “be very careful” about criticizing Trump’s racism and sexism. For those who don’t remember the Fleischer line it was that Americans needed to “watch what they do, watch what they say”. These are becoming extremely chilling times.

If you look at this weekend’s announcement of Trump’s first appointments, it’s clear that Bannon actually has a senior position over that of Priebus – meaning that Breitbart.com will be determining what this White House will prioritize. Meaning that we don’t just have a White House run by Fox News but by even farther right personalities.

EOF is correct that there will be some very harsh consequences for many Americans, and they’re coming up even faster than I had thought. Trump and company clearly want to execute as much of their Obama erasure as quickly as they can.

Fox News had Tom Cotton on yesterday to gloat about how they will essentially rip up the Iran treaty and how the GOP majorities in Congress will be working for two weeks ahead of the 20th to already get things going, including confirming Trump’s first far Right judge to the Supreme Court. (He didn’t mention it, but this also includes rushing through the ACA repeal/defund so that Trump can sign it in a flourish on Inauguration Day, along with the EOs that will wipe out Obama’s EOs.

Here’s one really chipper part of the mess – there were tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of children of undocumented immigrants who came out of the shadows to register for Obama’s Dream Act program. The whole point of that program was to bring people into the light so they could be an active part of our communities and not have to hide. Trump’s approach means that the personal information they provided will now be used against those people. I expect that nearly all of them will be forced to immediately move and cancel their cell phones, etc. If they don’t, they’re literally asking for their families to face significant prosecution.

EOF, maybe the rust belt was desperate. Maybe they saw Trump as grasping at the last straw. If he gets together with Nancy Pelosi he can have many thousands of construction jobs.

I am still looking for someone to blame, a dog to kick, etc…

But of course we have Fox News ‘liberal’ Doug Shoen to standing up for our side.

Hard news journalist Harris Faulkner should have gotten out more to Trump rallies where his supporters wore t-shirts reading “Rope. Tree. Journalist. Some assembly required”:

http://www.rawstory.com/2016/11/rope-tree-journalist-trump-supporters-t-shirt-calls-for-lynchings-of-reporters/

All of this political blather used to be fun, gang. Unfortunately, with Social Darwin termites like Objectivist Paul Ryan busy prepping for tearing down our government with sole emphasis on our social safety net, this is no longer just fun political abstraction.

I have spent most my adult life being financially responsible. I built a sound retirement strategy. However, it depended on Medicare and Social Security as cornerstones just as anyone in the American middle class does. I’m too old to adjust to Ryan’s privatization plans or reform plans and too young to dodge them. I expect if someone very fortunate in life like me can’t adjust, God help the rest of you. Particularly the financially struggling rust belters who voted Trump.

I guess Harris forgot how her presidential candidate was working his supporters into carrying out their own protests if tRump didn’t win—you know, because that would be “proof” that the election was rigged.

And you damn well know that had tRump lost, his supporters WOULD be out in full force—probably WITH guns (and, undoubtedly, loaded)—protesting. I mean, let’s not forget how Fox’s buddy, Cliven Bundy, allowed his supporters to put Federal law enforcement officers in the crosshairs of sniper rifles (with almost no complaint from FoxNoise). And what again was the official FoxNoise view on the Malheur takeover?
