Fox's Gregg Jarrett Caught Slurring His Words On The Air

Posted by Ellen -7859.80pc on May 22, 2014 · Flag

Before Gregg Jarrett took leave from Fox News, he was caught slurring his words and stumbling through an on-air broadcast. Watch for yourself after the jump.

Video below found via Raw Story, which also reported:

The anchor is known for his claim that Trayvon Martin may have been violent because he had smoked marijuana, and he also suggested the teen’s killer, George Zimmerman, had been punished enough for the crime by his apparent weight gain.

In one of my own posts about Jarrett, I also saw pro-Zimmerman/anti-Martin bias when he called Trayvon Martin "the alleged victim":

Rather than pointing out how “what happened that evening” is really the only thing that matters as to Zimmerman’s guilt or innocence, Jarrett added, “Well, one thing may come into evidence, depending upon the autopsy and toxicology report and that is whether Trayvon Martin had marijuana in his system or the components of marijuana in his system. That, you know, is sort of a wild card here and depending upon how prosecutors handle that, that could also open the door to more evidence of drug use by the alleged victim.” He spoke as though putting airquotes around the term.

In response, I received an email from Jarrett calling me "an idiot" and "obviously a moron" because the term "alleged victim" "is almost always used to describe either the surviving complainant or the deceased, especially in cases where the defendant claims self-defense." We went back and forth and I felt - and still do - that while Jarrett (a lawyer) may have been legally correct, "alleged victim" is not commonly used in the popular press and that the way he used it deliberately suggested Martin had been rightly killed.

I debated with myself about posting this video because, as I said in my previous post, alcoholism is a serious disease that deserves compassion, not public humiliation. However, the video below is of a public figure on the air and I think readers have a right to know that Jarrett's problem obviously affected his work.

Let us hope that someone can 12 Step him and that this incident will lead to his recovery. Even if that means calling me a moron again.

I have sympathy for alcoholics and those around them. I do NOT have sympathy for anyone who works at FoxNoise, no matter the level of brain damage they have from whatever they may be using to anesthetize themselves to make it through another day of spewing FoxNoise lies and venom. They CHOSE to work for the soul-sucking demon that is FoxNoise so they deserve no more sympathy than they exhibit for minimum-wage workers.

To quote an old song from the 80s*, Gregg Jarrett “ain’t worth the salt in my tears.”

These fools at Fox “News” knew he had a drinking problem but said nothing. Instead, they allowed him to remain on the air.

The third-rate amateur producers saw him, and said nothing. These cafeteria Catholic frauds’ only concerns are ratings and revenue.

This horrid network is destroying him, and if Jarrett does not leave, it could kill him. Sorry to be dramatic, but this disease is serious.

NOTE TO FOX “NEWS” PRODUCERS

Don’t act like you didn’t know he had issues. You are all enablers, and only care about yourselves. And you call yourselves Catholics. What a joke. You are an insult to the faith.

It must be soul-destroying for an intelligent person to live with the fact that they are daily spreading poison, lies and Goebbels-like propaganda in return for indecent amounts of money and a degree of the greatest modern addiction, celebrity. Even more humiliating must be the fact that this despicable behaviour is carried out in the glaring light of national television where it is not just the gullible old ‘true believers’ who witness the despicable Fox charade, but many others, who like us watch in the same way people watch train crashes.

That some of these people turn to drink or drugs in order to live with themselves is anything but surprising.

I appreciate that alcoholism is a disease, and I have ‘up close and personal’ experience with the disease.
However, I still hope that Jarrrett reaps what he has sown. I think that our natural liberal & progressive empathy is wasted on someone who has fomented so much hatred.

Clearly, substance abuse was affecting his work at Fox.
