Fox News’ Ralph Peters blamed President Obama for ISIS' kidnapping of 90 Assyrian Christians - with a dog whistle likening him to Pontius Pilate. Host Bill Hemmer seemed uncomfortable but did not challenge the incendiary language.
Hemmer opened his discussion about ISIS with Peters by “asking,” “Critics say, well, the White House is repeating history by not doing enough to stop them. Is that the case?” Given Peters’ history of inflammatory, outlandish attacks on Obama, his booking for the segment guaranteed what the answer would be. Even so, Peters must have exceeded Fox’s expectations.
PETERS: What we are seeing now is an Islamic attempt to exterminate – to exterminate! - the last vestiges of Christian civilization in the Middle East.
…These Christians are kidnapped, our president does nothing. Christians are tortured and even crucified publicly, our president does nothing. Christian women are kidnapped and raped and raped again, our president does nothing. Christians are driven from their homes in the Middle East, by the hundreds of thousands, slaughtered by the tens of thousands, and...our...president...does. Nothing! He is the reincarnation of Pontius Pilate, washing his hands of it. But this blood’s not coming off.
Peters ended by saying that President Obama’s legacy “is going to be an Iranian bomb.”
