Fox’s Laura Ingraham Defends ‘Good Friend’ Steve Bannon From Racism Charges

It says a lot about Fox News that not only are their personnel jumping to the defense of Stephen Bannon, Donald Trump’s alt-right chief strategist, but they’re claiming to be besties with what may be the most awful man ever to set foot in the White House.

NewsHounds’ Priscilla summed up Bannon’s Breitbart a few days ago when she wrote about Fox’s Father Jonathan Morris defending his “good friend” Steve Bannon from racism charges:

Breitbart news network is a vile cesspool of nasty stuff. Here is just a small sample of what passes for real journalism in Breitbart world: “Bill Kristol, Republican Spoiler, Renegade Jew;” “World Health Organization Report: Trannies 49 XS Higher HIV Rate;” “There’s No Hiring Bias Against Women In Tech, They Just Suck at Interviews;” “Birth Control Makes Women Unattractive and Lazy.”

But none of that history was mentioned when Fox & Friends hosted contributor Laura Ingraham for a giddy session of gushing over the possibility that she will become Trump’s press secretary.

Apparently, the widespread condemnation of Bannon as a member of the Trump administration made the Trump cheering section on the Curvy Couch feel they had a mandate to help polish his image.

Cohost Ainsley Earhardt, the segregation apologist began. “You said you were good friends with Steve Bannon, you’ve known him for a long time. We had a panel of moms. One of the moms says he’s a white supremacist. You’ve seen that in the mainstream media. Tell us about him and is that true?”

Apparently, it’s not Earhardt’s job to do any independent investigation when she can rely on Bannon’s “good friend” and potential supervisor or colleague to give us her totally fair and balanced opinion on the matter.

“This is what I really hate most about Washington, is this type of smear campaign,” Ingraham said. What she really meant was that she hates criticism of her cronies. Because it’s not a smear campaign when the allegations are true. Bannon isn’t just an anti-Semitic, white nationalist but his role in the White House has thrilled other white nationalists.

But you know what were smears? Trump’s attacks on Gold Star parents Khizr and Ghazala Khan. So was his mocking of a disabled reporter. Also his denigration of war hero John McCain’s service. Also his series of attacks on Megyn Kelly, Ingraham’s own Fox News colleague.

Nevertheless, Ingraham went on to gush over Bannon as a “wonderful person” and “a patriot.” She called the criticisms of him “sour grapes.”

Not one of the three cohosts challenged a word.

Watch it below from the November 15, 2016 Fox & Friends.

Oh, there’s a Friends of Steve Bannon sighting in Texas:

“Fliers left on Dallas college campus condemn biracial dating "

I get that I risk being attacked by Fox News as a liberal “politically correct” hater trying to abolish the 1st Amendment but I just can’t help myself! 😼

Let’s be very clear on this. Steve Bannon has no honor to defend. He’s a vicious huckster who has enriched himself by feeding the hatred of those who normally frequent the Breitbart websites. We really can’t forget the history of the Breitbart sites or of Breitbart himself. Andrew Breitbart was in life an extremely angry and nasty piece of work. He delighted in causing misery to others, in generating falsehoods about decent people and then assuming a false moral high ground he didn’t have. He left the world an angrier and poorer place than when he was born. Steve Bannon has carried the Breitbart flag since the man’s death and has now made the world an even angrier and poorer place than before.

Among the bizarre statements being made this past week has been Newt Gingrich happily chuckling about how Bannon’s vicious headlines at Breitbart are really just funny click bait that we’re supposed to think everyone can’t resist reading. I suppose that Gingrich enjoys reading what Bannon regularly inflicted at Breitbart but most other people wouldn’t.

Fox News is acting in an extremely triumphal and vicious fashion at this point – simply because an 8 year ploy of theirs has worked out well for them, for the moment. They’ve gotten away with the long con. They spent 8 years attacking Barack Obama and 20 years attacking the Clintons, and they are now rewarded with a situation where they have an obvious influence over the people taking power in the White House. But in typical fashion for Fox News, that theft is not enough to satisfy them. It’s simply not enough for them to seize the reins and enrich their friends. They need that refreshing moment that all bullies enjoy to top the whole thing off. A typical schoolyard bully, as Fox News has modeled itself upon, doesn’t just take the smaller kid’s lunch and homework. That’s fun for the bully, but it doesn’t really fill the bill. The real achievement for a schoolyard bully is to break the smaller kid’s arm and rub his face in the dirt – just to make sure the smaller kid KNOWS what is being done to him and who is doing it. The behavior we’re seeing from Fox News falls right in line with that approach – and sadly, we’ll be seeing a lot more of it over the next four years.

Dobbs also put up a stout defense of the honor of Steve Bannon. He had Peter “Clinton Cash” Scweizer, another Bannon BFF, on to whine about all the awful things the “left-wing media” like the NYTimes has been saying about him.

It gets weirder at Fox every day since the election.

One of life’s great mysteries – how could Keith Olbermann ever have gone there?

I have read a bit of her correspondence with twit friends and I must say it left me a little queasy. Very pally-pally and a bit girly. Much like Greta van Frozenface’s simpering banter with her dullard ‘family’. The image I went away with from Laura’s twittering was of a bunch of ladies proudly producing their scones and pies for supper at the Nazi Women’s Auxiliary or after a good old community cross-burning.

Snotty assed Laura Ingraham as Press Secretary. This will be as much fun as when Ari the bald headed bald faced liar was PS. I can see Laura getting snotty with the whipped dog White House press corps too. Maybe the whipped dogs will learn to bite back. It ought to be entertaining.

@ truman Hmmmmmmmmmm, speaking of “Sieg Heil”, here’s a joke I cooked up:

Q: How does Laura Ingraham tie her shoelaces?

A: In little Nazis!

This country is going. I hope it can be saved, but I’m not optimistic.

@kevin Koster – Yeah, the GOP is scrambling to retain power. The Trumpkins are signalling that they are going to gut the Republican party and political or personal paybacks are going to be the way things are run going forward.

Will there even be a functioning GOP come the next presidential election? Or will it be run by the Trumpkins and the Alt-White?

Will Screech Ingraham start the daily White House press briefing with a hearty “Seig Heil”? Just asking.

This shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone – of course Fox News is going to cheerlead for Bannon and for anyone else Trump wants.

And it’s gone public now that Ingraham herself is trying to get the position of Press Secretary – something that should be interesting given her usual hostility to anyone but the far right.

There are increasingly disturbing stories coming out of the Trump transition about the angry and triumphal behavior of Trump’s team – the same behavior we’re now seeing on Fox News and on AM radio. I’m shocked to say that even GOP members are apparently unhappy with it.

This is shaping up to be an extremely mean-spirited group of people, with an agenda that the rest of America may find troubling once these guys start inflicting it in January.
