Fox didn’t waste any time calling on Republican politico Dan Bongino to use the latest tragedy of a slain police officer to attack and blame President Obama. UPDATED
It’s understandable that law enforcement personnel are angry whenever a fellow officer is killed but that’s no excuse for any news network to use that antipathy to score political points.
Host Heather Nauert opened the door for Bongino to go after Fox’s favorite targets when she asked about the connection between anti-police rhetoric and crime on the rise in large cities. Fox has been exploiting the tragic killing of a deputy sheriff in Texas to attack #BlackLivesMatter and President Obama.
Nauert noted that the locale of this particular shooting was in a suburb. Nevertheless, she asked Bongino, “But do you see a common thread in these stories?”
I’m sure you won’t be surprise to know that yes, Bongino did. He went for the "attack Obama" option.
BONGINO: You know Heather I do and It gives me no joy in saying this but I would have proudly given my life for the president of the United States. As a Secret Service agent that was our job. It’s what we do. No one is looking for a pat on the back but the man's been a complete disgrace when it comes to dealing with police officers and it really gives me no joy in saying that. I know people tend to engage in hyperbolic statements here but it’s just the truth.
How many people are going to have to die? How many police officers, before President Obama has that Sister Souljah moment President Clinton had and he comes out and says enough is enough? We can have a respectful conversation, a dialogue in a free society about the role of policing, liberty and values, investigations into use of force incidents.
But once people cross the line and start marching on a state fair in Minnesota screaming, "Pigs in a blanket, fry 'em like bacon." Where’s the president of the United States here? This a disgrace.
Nauert couldn't have been more supportive of this attack on Obama. She responded, “We do need to say something and lots of law enforcement officers across the country are saying that. We, as the American public, need to stand up and support our law enforcement officers.”
She then noted, "The president of the United States has said something along the lines of, 'This kind of activity is a complete disgrace.' I don’t have the direct quote in front of me.”
FOX couldn't even be bothered to quote Obama’s statement.

November 3, 2015 update: The death of Lt. Charles Joseph Gliniewicz has been determined to be a suicide.
So I’m listening to Fox News “Fox And Friends” having a major meltdown to the degree I’m worried they’ll stroke out raging against Hillary Clinton on emailgate. Mark Steyn is brought in to call her an idiot and unfit for office. Wait for it…
If I followed these clowns right – hard to tell since Fox News rarely exposes more than 1/2 the story – Hillary’s latest email dump contained one where she was requesting an email be sent to her private, unsecured email server from the classified State Department server. Sounds scary doesn’t it, eh? Wait for it…
Under-reported by GOP TV is the fact there were 2 State Department servers, one classified and one unclassified. They don’t like talking about this since Hillary was getting all her mail from the unclassified one and it’s hard to exploit that to turn emailgate into the worst scandal ever. However, this latest revelation gave “Fox And Fiends… errr… Friends” the opportunity to breech the topic, sans context – don’t overload the fanboys with too much information. Wait for it…
The punch line? The email involved a public statement. Oh yeah, really scary top secret stuff, eh? Irresponsible Hillary – being a person of action – wanted to get on top of it. Unfortunately, the apparently misclassified email couldn’t be sent from the classified server as a matter of technology – which bolsters Hillary’s case (though Fox News would never approach a story from that angle) – so she had to wait until it was transferred over to the unclassified State Department server.
Cue Fox News outrage the biased liberal mainstream media isn’t covering this nothingburger to smear Hillary. ;^)
“Pigs in a blanket” was a Ferguson chant. It was used by Ismaaiyl Brinsley, a mentally unstable man with a history of violence, who murdered 2 cops. It’s a nasty, distasteful reference. I get why #BlackLivesMatter would express their contempt for police since a history of injustice at the hands of police is at the heart of their movement.
However, hopefully lesson learned and the reference is permanently dropped. If for no other reason, an influential propaganda factory like GOP TV will single out the 30 seconds #BlackLivesMatter shouted that chant to negate the hours of peaceful protest and every #BlackLivesMatter peaceful protest until the end of time.
Is Fox News a pack of hypocrites? Certainly, I’ve made the case but hypocrisy is the mother’s milk of conservatives. Make Fox News work hard to convince America of their bigoted reality.
