On Fox & Friends this morning, the topic for discussion was, supposedly, “Why did China let Edward Snowden leave?” And who, except Sarah Palin, would know less on the subject than Donald Trump? But Trump does one have expertise beyond tooting his own hair, I mean horn: His birther schtick. Not surprisingly, he found a way to work it into the discussion – and everyone on the Curvy Couch seemed to appreciate it.
Before the birther talk, Trump expounded on how Snowden has hurt the U.S. (without offering a single fact to prove it nor the hosts asking for one) and how it shows how “weak” our country now is. As Mark, at NewsCorpse wrote about the segment, “America is always mortally threatened by whatever their issue du jour might be, whether it’s health care, immigration, or totalitarian bicycles (seriously).”
But after offering his deepest thoughts on global warming and how there are “thousands of Snowdens out there,” Trump worked this in: “You know the only thing we don’t seem to get are the records from the president. Isn’t that interesting?”
Ex-model (from 30 years ago) Carol Alt, a guest co-host in a dress almost short enough to be a bathing suit, had claimed during the Snowden talk that, as a member of a military family, she objects to people harming the country. “Anybody that does anything against this country should be taken to task for that,” she said, in agreement with Trump. But, apparently, that doesn’t apply to birtherism claims. Even though Trump’s ridiculous attacks have been thoroughly and completely discredited, she and the other hosts chuckled appreciatively at his latest “expertise.”
“Donald Trump, it’s always a pleasure,” Steve Doocy said enthusiastically to close the segment.
Conservatives will view these frauds as sell-outs to the conservative movement, and tune them out…permanently.
