Dick Cheney The Runaway Winner Of Our Outrageous Quote Poll

Posted by Ellen -7859.80pc on May 23, 2013 · Flag

Former Vice President Dick Cheney had some stiff competition but he trounced each and every one of them to win our Most Outrageous Quote of the Week Poll with a decisive 58.4% of the vote or 122 votes. What made him such a "winner:" His comment that the attack on the American compound in Benghazi, Libya was “one of the worst incidents that, frankly, that I can recall in my career.”

Fittingly, Donald Rumsfeld was the runner up for lecturing us about the importance of truthfulness in making assessments about Benghazi and the need to dispassionately “gather the facts and then inform the American people.” Rummy's tally was 29 votes or 13.9% of the total.

You can view the full results here.

Thanks to everyone who participated. I believe we've got another round of doozies for this week's contest!

Didn’t cast a vote because I simply couldn’t make up my mind. Cheney and Rumsfield were definitely the top contenders for jaw-dropping stupidity and wilful untruthfulness. At least, I think it was wilful. That’s bad enough.

The thought that those were the bright starts of the Bush administration still gives me nightmares.

One of the worst incidents in Cheney’s career was when he shot that man.

Darth Dickhead Cheney should win a lifetime achievement award for his innumerable outrageous quotes.

Sorry, Dick, but nobody's buying your line that Benghazi is “one of the worst incidents that, frankly, that I can recall in my career.”
