Memo to Bill O'Reilly, our readers not only didn't believe your statement that Fox News doesn't engage in personal attacks, they found it so ridiculous that they voted it the Fox News Outrageous Quote of the Week. By a landslide.
To refresh your memory, O'Reilly was in a discussion about Martin Bashir's retort to Sarah Palin's remarks likening the national debt to slavery and then on to personal attacks made on MSNBC. O'Reilly said:
On this channel, I’m not aware of that happening. Nobody has ever been suspended for doing it. I mean, once in a while it gets rough but not very much. You go, Baier, Greta, O’Reilly, Kelly, Hannity: five hours straight. None of those people are known for personal attacks. So how can you make that comparison?
O'Reilly garnered 133, or 50% of the 264 total votes. He eclipsed the runner up, Stuart Varney, who thought there might be something about "the female brain" that prevents women from becoming top executives in the tech world. Varney's outrageous quote got only 34, or 13% of the votes.
