O’Reilly can be very funny. But he can also be mean. If you ask me, his joke about changing the name of the Washington Redskins to the Washington Progressives, with an unflattering photo of Nancy Pelosi as the logo was mean, not funny.
In his "Tip of the Day" segment tonight, O’Reilly said that some believe that the Redskins’ bad season may be due to a curse on the team because of their name. “The old Indian burial ground deal,” O’Reilly described it.
He continued:
So in case the Red Skins do want to change their name and eliminate the alleged curse, we have the perfect solution.
Here it is: How about the Washington Progressives, with Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi as the logo?
Number one, it’s fierce and may frighten the opposition. Number two, it reflects what D.C. is all about these days. And third, if the progressives don’t score, they can take some of the team’s opponents’ points.
There was heavy laughter off camera.
By the way, O’Reilly has a long history of smearing Pelosi.

To say the team has a curse on it is ridiculous or any team (except for the Chicago Cubs and the curse of the Billy Goat, Google it, it’s a fun story if you don’t know). The team has won 3 Super Bowls and had great success for about 25 years from the early 70’s to mid 90’s and has been experiencing below .500 seasons since the current ownership of Dan Snyder took over the once great franchise.
As far as Bill’s attempt at humor, well keep trying Bill.

The root of the word “progressive” is progress, as in to move forward, advance, or develop.
The root of the word “conservative” is con, as in to persuade to do something, usually in the case of deception.
Any further confusion? Anyone…?
