Donald Trump: I’m A Man For The Poor!
Donald Trump visited On The Record last night where he pimped yet another phony run for president. Even Greta Van Susteren, possibly the world’s most credulous news host, didn’t buy it. But that didn’t stop her from goading Trump into criticizing President Obama’s golf vacation and egging him on to present himself as more of a man of the people. Not only did Trump take the hint, he insisted, “I have a tremendous base” of poor and blue collar people.

Sydney Leathers visited the Hannity show tonight for a lengthy interview about her sexting relationship with Anthony Weiner. Frankly, I don’t care about her, him or their relationship. But she did say some interesting things about Sean Hannity.

Last week, I reported that on August 4th the week-end crew on the curvy couch promoted the newest RNC meme that the sexual misdeeds of three Democrats (Weiner, Spitzer, Filner) constituted the "real war on women" as opposed to the REAL war on women being waged by Republicans who seek to abolish back women's reproductive rights and oppose pay equity. The hosts and their guest, a conservative woman, told a lie when they claimed that Democratic women hadn't made any public comments about the issue. Well sure as Fox lies, on August 6th, Gretchen Carlson, who said nothing about bad behavior on the part of saintly, Christian GOP men, promoted the same *lie in a piece that adhered to the same (RNC approved?) script that was used on Sunday's propaganda fest - including a sweet, young, conservative woman. Hey, what good is propaganda if you can't repeat it?!

Fox host Martha MacCallum was obviously taken aback on America Live today when her conservative, Republican guest shot down Fox’s Benghazi/Hillary Clinton conspiracy theory of the day, that the Obama administration is covering up the theft of 400 missiles that were stolen from Benghazi, Libya on their way to Syria. But good little GOP foot soldier that she is, MacCallum valiantly soldiered on with the theory anyway.
Read moreMike Huckabee Says Military Favors Islam While Harassing Christians
There used to be a time when, on Fox News, any criticism of the US military was seen as downright treasonous. But times have changed. Now that there is push-back against what is seen, by military leaders, as inappropriate attempts to foist a fundamentalist Christian world view onto a secular institution, the American Taliban Christian right is incensed about this alleged violation of Christian "religious liberty." Fox News, as the defender of all persecuted Christians, has jumped on board. Todd Starnes, who has documented every single alleged affront to Christian soldiers, advanced this meme on Hannity. And not surprisingly, Christian right mullah, Mike Huckabee, added some cheese to the whine with his Saturday piece about how military Christians are "barred" from "expressing their faith." That, of course, is a lie; but that didn't stop the Huck and his Christian veteran guest from pushing all the popular tropes. But what was really special was that Huck was able to juxtapose the patented anti-Islamic Fox narrative with the patented Fox persecuted Christian one.

Fox management asserts that its official "news" programming lives up to the Fox News logo of being "fair & balanced." Fox also uses the phrase "real journalism" to describe the reporting that is done during the official "news" shows. That these claims are ludicrous was demonstrated by a July propaganda blast of three "news" shows that not only baselessly smeared an abortion provider, but used video, from the radical anti-choice group, Operation Rescue, which even the Fox reporter had to finally admit had not been verified. That the "news" programming is clearly in the service of an anti-choice agenda was also shown in a subsequent "news" show which, in it coverage of alleged clinic malfeasance, included a Fox reporter's ufnounded accusation about the clinic. But what was even more interesting is that the phrase used was straight out of the playbook of the radical, anti-abortion movement. Words matter, especially if you're claiming to be "real journalism, fair and balanced."

On yesterday’s Your World, a Fox News alert announced that the budget deficit is shrinking. But their banner on the screen, “US Budget Deficit shrinks amid higher taxes, lower government spending,” was only half true. Guess which part?
Read moreTodd Starnes Wants Proud Dominicans To Leave The Country?
Despite his professed devotion to Jesus, Fox radio host, writer, and TV contributor, Todd Starnes does seem to harbor some rather toxic racist and homophobic attitudes which are frequently seen on his Twitter. His latest bigoted blast was directed towards those who are either from the Dominican Republic or are of Dominican ancestry and are proud of their ethnic heritage. In reacting to a statement made by a bystander at the NYC Dominican Day parade, that "there's no better thing in the world than being Dominican," Starnes' reaction, that "Delta is ready when you are," suggest that this man was un-American and should leave the country. I guess in Starnes' America you abandon any connection to your ethnic roots - in this case a culture and people who greatly contribute to making NYC the thriving, vibrant, and economically successful, diverse city that it is. But Todd is a real American with the patriotic, Fox News chops to prove it, so it's all good...
Read moreFox News' Food Stamp Fraud
Starting Friday night and continuing over the weekend, Fox News aired what purported to be a documentary about food stamps or SNAP, as the program is now called. In reality, the "investigation" was closer to one of those discredited ACORN videos Fox loved (even after their veracity was destroyed), i.e. a phony-baloney tableau that Fox tried to pass off as representative. Instead of providing any real investigation, “objective” host Bret Baier spent a lot of time hyping the case of one surfer slacker on food stamps, no time investigating how typical that case is (probably because Baier knew it’s not) and suggesting that the anti-food stamp sentiments of a recent Fox News poll represented objective truth about the SNAP program.
