While abortion is still legal, the anti-choice right wing continues to work towards the defunding of Planned Parenthood in order to ensure that women will have less access to abortion. In vilifying Planned Parenthood and validating those who want nothing more than to shutter an organization that provides vital health care for low income women, Fox News is a willing partner. During a recent "news" piece about Planned Parenthood, Bret Baier said that a Delaware clinic is "under assault" because three former workers have made accusations, which the clinic denies, of unsafe practices. He followed that up with news (A lede on the Fox website) about a GAO investigation of Planned Parenthood. Baier asked if Planned Parenthood is "playing fast and lose with taxpayer money." On Fox news' "Happening Now" Jenna Lee asked if taxpayer dollars should be going to an organization that provides abortion. And just to make sure that the pro-life propaganda blast reached even more viewers, "pro-life luminary" Laura Ingraham told us how Planned Parenthood wastes our tax dollars and in so doing, helped birth a Fox propaganda meme. Aww....

Here, for your voyeuristic pleasure, is our weekly peek into the minds of Fox News fans. Maybe it's just me but it seems that this batch of emails meant for Fox News, but inexplicably sent to us, is crazier than ever. This week, we've got complaints about drones in Florida, Judge Judy not in New Jersey and Megyn Kelly's upcoming prime time. Plus, an accusation that the left wing is responsible for someone's poor Fox News reception. All that and more after the jump.

Sarah Palin returned to Fox News’ “business block” today to lend her special brand of acumen to a discussion about Obamacare and death panels. Despite the fact that her “death panels” accusation was rated “Lie of the Year” by PolitiFact, host Eric Bolling joined her in throwing truth out the window as she took what was laughably called “The Hot Seat” for softball questions and a pretense that she has been proven correct.

Sarah Palin made it to the top of our Most Outrageous Quote poll again last week for the second week in a row. Once again, she blew away the competition, this time with her "wisdom" about threatening to shut down the government in order to defund Obamacare.

Yesterday, President Obama spoke out against Russia's anti-gay legislation and, at the same time, rejected calls for an Olympics boycott by cheering on gay and lesbian athletes to defeat the homophobia via superior sportsmanship: “One thing I’m really looking forward to is maybe some gay and lesbian athletes bringing home the gold or silver or bronze, which i think would go a long way in rejecting the kind of attitudes were seeing there. And if Russia doesn’t have gay or lesbian athletes, it’ll probably make their team weaker.” Fox's resident Christian Crusader Todd Starnes was watching and he took to this Twitter account with a series of mocking tweets that I'm sure Jesus would have loved - not.

If you’ve watched Fox at all this week, you’ve undoubtedly heard about the beating of a white student by three black older students on a school bus in Florida. Fox has seized on this story and, with sickening enthusiasm, used it for no other reason than to gin up racial animosity in its lily-white viewers.

The Trayvon Martin trial opened a scab on festering American racism; but, rather than address the serious racial inequalities in our justice and economic system, and the bigotry that is the basis for racial profiling, Fox News hosts have tried to divert the discussion by saying that blacks have only themselves to blame for the problems. While black on black crime is only slightly more prevalent than white on white, Fox dwells on violence in the black community. But despite claims that the minority community is engaging in baseless victimhood, a recent school bus assault of a white boy, by black youths, has now become a cause celebre for the right. They claim that this is a black on white hate crime for which black leaders owe a public apology. This week, Greg Gutfeld suggested that this behavior is typical of "corrosive" black culture and in so doing, continued the racist stereotypes which portray African-Americans as lazy and criminal. His "Five" homies validated him with whines about the silence of the minority and liberal community. Ah, don't ya love the smell of Jim Crow in the evening!

As the mouthpiece for the rabidly anti-choice GOP, Christian right, the "fair & balanced" Fox News network provides them with validation for their campaign to defund Planned Parenthood. Prior to the 2010 House vote to defund the women's healthcare organization (the first big vote of the session), Bill O'Reilly and Laura Ingraham spent over a week hosting and agreeing with their anti-choice guests. James O'Keefe protégé, Lila Rose, always receives a warm welcome on Fox where she gets to show her anti-Planned Parenthood sting videos, none of which have resulted in any prosecution of the agency. In their Gosnell coverage, Fox tried to equate his clinic with Planned Parenthood. Now, as result of a request from GOP lawmakers (who else) the Government Accountability Office is investigating Planned Parenthood in yet another attempt to "prove" that it should be defunded. Fox, in reporting this, seems, at first glance to have a factual headline. But a closer look at the quotes around "Parenthood" show a blatant homage to those who are waging a real war on women's reproductive freedom.

Fox News not only kept up the race baiting against Oprah Winfrey again last night but this time they race baited her upcoming Presidential Medal of Freedom Award. In case you missed it, Fox has had its knickers in a racial twist ever since Oprah said that she saw a parallel between Emmett Till and Trayvon Martin. Tonight, the Hannity show completely ignored news that gave that comparison even more legitimacy – an exposé that revealed Zimmerman’s biggest media defender is a racist with a criminal history – in order to suggest that Winfrey should not be awarded the Medal of Freedom and that President Obama was wrongfully overlooking her racism in awarding it to her. Fortunately for sane people, guest Jehmu Greene so completely smacked down the attack that Hannity all but disavowed his own insinuation.
