As FoxNews.com reported yesterday, "Nearly three dozen members of the 1972 Miami Dolphins finally received their White House moment Tuesday, 40 years after they made history by winning 17 games and losing none -- an undefeated NFL feat that still stands today." Although "at least three" invited players chose not to attend due to "political differences," according to FoxNews.com, the article closes with quotes from quarterback Bob Griese and offensive lineman Larry Little talking about what a great time was had by all who attended. Former Congressman Allen West visited On The Record last night where he insisted that making health care and/or health insurance a right is a threat to America “as a constitutional republic.” It was hard to understand what, exactly, is so dangerous about it, other than that it “could” lead to something nefarious. Not that “liberal” host Greta Van Susteren challenged the logic. She did mildly challenge his language but seemed OK with it once he clarified that he didn’t mean Obama is “a very dangerous threat to the existence of America” but to “America as a constitutional republic.” Ohhhh, OK.

File this one "Juicy!" The Hollywood Reporter reports that Brian Lewis, the "right-hand man to Roger Ailes" has been fired and escorted out of the building due to undisclosed "financial issues and other performance problems."

The description of Mark Steyn, as "the most toxic right wing pundit you never heard of," is right on the mark (badaboom) considering Steyn's rabid Islamophobia which includes Steyn's exhortation, to non-Muslim women, to have more babies in order to score a demographic victory over the godless hordes. He spews his toxicity, some of it race based, on Fox, especially on the Hannity show where he is a frequent guest. Official Fox "news" even provided a defense of Steyn when a complaint was lodged, in Canada, about the anti-Islamic content of one his books. So it figures that he would be a fave with some of those on Fox's toxic "The Five." Last week, Dana Perino joined the chorus of conservatives who are urging Steyn, who frequently subs for Rush Limbaugh, to run for the US Senate. Problem is, however, that he can't run for the Senate because HE'S A CANADIAN CITIZEN. That Ms. Perino, who should know better, doesn't care just shows you the alternate reality of Fox News hosts.

We still don't know Sean Hannity's television fate once Megyn Kelly moves into his Fox News prime time spot. But while it's safe to assume Hannity will be there somewhere, it's also safe to assume the changes are a smackdown of his television brand. Now, at the same time, comes what looks a lot like a radio smackdown, too.

If ever you needed proof that no excuse is too far-fetched for Sean Hannity to attack President Obama, take a gander at tonight’s segment in which he used Ted Cruz’ release of his birth certificate as an excuse to go birther all over again on President Obama – while once again pretending it was “never a big issue for me.” Hannity was assisted in that regard by his pal, failed Republican Senate candidate, Connie Mack of Florida.

As the mouthpiece for the anti-choice movement, "fair & balanced" Fox News has no problem advancing the lies and propaganda of those who seek to abolish reproductive rights for American women. Their coverage of the HHS birth control mandate was taken straight from the anti-choice playbook which claimed that the policy violated religious liberty and provided coverage for abortion inducing drugs - lies promoted on the official Fox "news" show, "America Live." Megyn Kelly no longer hosts the show; but that doesn't mean that the anti-choice lies and propaganda have stopped. Last week, Jamie Colby advanced the anti-choice outrage over how the Obama administration has chosen Planned Parenthood, among a number of other organizations including Catholic health agencies, to receive "Navigator Funds" to assist consumers navigate their insurance options. In so doing, she lied about a presidential Executive Order and advanced the lie that the Navigator funding secretly funds abortions. So not only was she able to smear Obama by portraying him as untrustworthy; but she was able to work in the popular Fox evil-Planned-Parenthood-does-abortions meme. Fair & balanced agitprop twofer! 

Call a wah-mbulance! The top movie this weekend, The Butler, was unfair to St. Ronald Reagan! Frankly, America Live's "fair and balanced" assessment of Reagan's support of apartheid is - well, not quite.

Friday night, Laura Ingraham, guest hosting The O’Reilly Factor, joined her Fox News colleagues in condemning Oprah Winfrey's comments about race.  Never mind that Bill O’Reilly had already devoted a Factor segment to racially policing her remarks. Friday night (8/16/13), Ingraham put on her own racial policewoman’s hat and laid down some Dos and Don’ts for how Oprah should discuss racial issues. It was the Top Story for the show.
