Donald Trump Works Birtherism Into Snowden Story

Posted by Ellen · June 24, 2013 8:36 PM · 3 reactions

On Fox & Friends this morning, the topic for discussion was, supposedly, “Why did China let Edward Snowden leave?” And who, except Sarah Palin, would know less on the subject than Donald Trump? But Trump does one have expertise beyond tooting his own hair, I mean horn: His birther schtick. Not surprisingly, he found a way to work it into the discussion – and everyone on the Curvy Couch seemed to appreciate it.

Mike Huckabee Attacks Pro-Choice Liberals With Bogus Anti-Choice Propaganda

Posted by Priscilla · June 24, 2013 6:38 PM · 3 reactions

Poor ole Mike Huckabee.  While he tries to understand liberals, he can't because, aw shucks, they're just too darned weird - especially those silly libs who can't see the wisdom of the 20 week abortion bill which just passed the House. Poor ole Mike Huckabee just can't grasp why silly libs don't understand the "science" behind anti-choice legislation. Of course the "science" that he cites is totally bogus but who cares when you have anti-choice, anti-liberal, and anti-Obamacare talking points to push which is exactly what Mike Huckabee did, non-stop, for almost four minutes. Aw shucks.

Mark Fuhrman All But Declares George Zimmerman Not Guilty

Posted by Ellen · June 24, 2013 4:31 PM · 7 reactions

America Live once again showed a shocking racial insensitivity by hosting Mark Fuhrman as a neutral analyst for the opening argument of the George Zimmerman trial. What’s even worse than hosting Fuhrman in the first place is that Megyn Kelly and her America Live staff knew from Fuhrman’s previous appearance discussing the case that he has already suggested that Zimmerman is the victim of a racial witch hunt and that he has described Trayvon Martin as a possible “dead suspect.” This time, Furhman reiterated his bias by saying that Martin “definitely could have left the scene” but chose instead to confront (i.e. instigate aggression toward) Zimmerman. And how did host Kelly react? By adding her own sympathetic-to-the-defense remarks.

When Will Fox News Break Supreme Court Decision On Race Based Admissions?

Posted by Priscilla · June 24, 2013 11:12 AM · 3 reactions

Whenever there is a news story which involves victimized conservatives or victorious conservatives, the Fox News website and Fox News TV classify it, with a big, bold banner, as "breaking news." During the Gosnell trial, every burp and fart seemed to have been designated as "breaking news." But when it comes to real news that isn't a conservative victory, it appears that Fox doesn't think it merits immediate "breaking" attention. At least a half hour ago, the Supreme Court threw a Texas affirmative action case back to the lower court for further review. The news is a top item on the CNN and MSNBC websites. But as this is written, the banner headline on Fox is about the Zimmerman trial. And it's nowhere on their home page. Never mind "fair & balanced," how bout timely? Hmmm....

Fr. Jonathan Morris Pimps Priestly Propaganda & Lie: 'Religious Freedom Crushing' HHS Mandate Covers Abortion Drugs

Posted by Priscilla · June 23, 2013 6:32 PM · 1 reaction

Fox News occasionally features a few non-Catholic clergy; but their one true clergyperson, who gets the sweetest face time, is the sweet faced Catholic priest, Fr. Jonathan Morris. Morris is always willing to preach the GOP gospel to his Fox flock which, thanks to his Facebook cult who see him as divinely inspired, is growing (and for that Roger Ailes gives thanks and praise). He has been a key part of the "fair & balanced" (?) Fox support for the Catholic Church's opposition to the HHS mandate which requires all employers to provide birth control coverage, in their health care plans, except for church employees and parochial schools. The Catholic bishops are still whining that this is a "violation of religious freedom." As such, the anti-Obama Fox News provides Morris a pulpit from which to preach this message and in so doing, Morris actually said that Catholic priests should be willing to die for the cause. Last Sunday, a still alive Morris continued the whine and, once again, promoted the Fox News advanced "pro-life" lie about how the mandate covers abortion drugs. Bless you father, for you have sinned?

Bill O’Reilly Attacked By Right Wing After He Announces Support For Immigration Reform

Posted by Ellen · June 23, 2013 2:40 PM · 7 reactions

On Thursday, Bill O’Reilly announced his support for immigration reform – and, as Alan Colmes put it, conservative heads exploded. Colmes noted, "Hard to tell what’s worse to these people, liberals like me with whom they always disagree, or someone they generally admire who thinks for himself and doesn’t always tow the party line."

Fox News: Let Student Loan Rates Double!

Posted by Brian · June 23, 2013 12:03 PM · 7 reactions

Yesterday’s Forbes on Fox hyped the doubling of student loan rates from 3.4% to 6.8% on July 1. Forbes publisher Rich Karlgaard wasn’t just all for the doubling, he thought that even that amount would be “way too low.”
