Chris Wallace Lambastes NRA’s Wayne LaPierre

Posted by Ellen · February 03, 2013 6:05 PM · 12 reactions

Chris Wallace didn’t just grill National Rifle Association head Wayne LaPierre today during Fox News Sunday, he chewed him up and spit him out at the same time. In an almost 15-minute interview, Wallace did not pull any punches, did not fear monger about the Second Amendment and gave LaPierre quite a talking to about LaPierre’s “ridiculous” suggestion that kids in school are subject to the same kinds of dangers as the Obama daughters.

Bill O'Reilly Is Obsessed With Topless 'Nuns?'

Posted by Priscilla · February 03, 2013 1:36 PM · 4 reactions

As a loofah loving macho man, it's no surprise that Bill O'Reilly and his male "comedy" posse (Miller, Carolla, Gutfeld, McGuirk) are true soul brothas. Whenever Bill and his boys get together in Bill's TV locker room, there's a strong stench of testosterone and sound of towel snapping as the guys talk about cool stuff that includes denigrating liberal women like Sandra Fluke - or, as Miller refers to them, "babes," "chicks," and "gals." Such was the case during last week's "Miller Time" when O'Reilly and Dennis Miller got all giggly about Bill's latest obsession - topless "nuns." These bogus brides of Christ are Ukrainian women who protest at various venues wearing nun headgear while topless. The locker room humor, which included Dennis Miller's comparison of the "nuns" to Sandra Fluke, also included patented O'Reilly voyeuristic video. Ah, don't ya love the smell of testosterone in the evening!

Is Fox Trying To Start A Race War Over 'Django Unchained?'

Posted by Ellen · February 02, 2013 6:06 PM · 10 reactions

Actor/comedian Donnell Rawlings discussed the film, "Django Unchained" with TMZ recently and jokingly said, "We shootin' white people in this movie. The black dude leaves with his girl into the sunset. There can be no happier movie than that." Fox Nation edited out the middle sentence for a headline giving the impression that only the "shootin' white people" was such a happy thought. They didn't make it clear that this was a joke, either. And they fronted the video with a still of Rawlings looking like Buckwheat. Predictably, their readers erupted with racist, n-word laden hatred. Either nobody bothered to moderate the comments days after they were posted or else Fox thought they were appropriate.

Why Did Van Susteren Ask Gingrich To Explain Landrieu’s Comments About Fox?

Posted by Ellen · February 02, 2013 3:43 PM · 7 reactions

If ever there was proof of a Fox News segment geared entirely toward attacking Democrats, rather than informing viewers, it was Greta Van Susteren’s interview the other night with Newt Gingrich purporting to “explain” why Senator Mary Landrieu joined President Barack Obama in publicly criticizing Fox News.

At The Super Bowl, Hannity Will Be Taking In Benefits Of Corporate Welfare

Posted by Ellen · February 02, 2013 10:52 AM · 6 reactions

Sean Hannity just happened to mention during an interview with Joe Theismann last night that he’ll be going to the Super Bowl tomorrow. That got me curious about how much “regular guy” Hannity – you know, the one who loves Wal Mart and mocks “elites” – might be paying for such a jaunt. Lots, as I suspected. But while I was researching the matter, I discovered that Mr. Maker, Not A Taker, will be reaping (i.e. taking) the benefits of quite a nice chunk of corporate welfare.

Geraldo Rivera Uses Fox To Polish His Stump Speech

Posted by Ellen · February 01, 2013 11:59 PM · 11 reactions

Geraldo Rivera visited The O'Reilly Factor tonight for an interview that sounded more like a campaign whistle stop. That's because it was. Even though Rivera is only “truly contemplating” a run. Earlier, he appeared on Fox & Friends, where he said he was working on “hon(ing) his message” and a friendly producer posted a banner saying, “Senator Rivera?” Tonight, host Laura Ingraham fed him openings so that he could sound off on various issues of the day. And that's not counting the Fox Latino column where Rivera more fully laid out his positions and promised "many other ideas to share along the way" if his candidacy "has legs." Just everyone pulling together to help out a fellow (Republican) colleague, I guess.

Kirsten Powers Blames 'War On Fox' On Media Matters

Posted by Aria and Ellen · February 01, 2013 6:36 PM · 9 reactions

We have a lot of respect for Kirsten Powers here. But sometimes she seems a little, uh, over-eager to score Fox Brownie points. Her recent piece on FoxNews.com is a good example. In it, she follows her Fox News colleagues in misinterpreting and overblowing President Obama's pushback against Fox News and – claims that the “War on Fox” is some kind of Media Matters cabal. Meanwhile, she is either blind or very forgiving of the kind of anti-Obama cabal going on at the very “news” network she is defending.

In Anti-Abortion Screed, Bill O'Reilly Channels What Fetuses "Would Say"

Posted by Priscilla · February 01, 2013 3:41 PM · 7 reactions

Bill O'Reilly is an aging, conservative Catholic bloviator who doesn't have a uterus but has lots to say about those who do. He has become the national media spokesperson for those who, in seeking to take women back to the back alley, believe that the rights of fetuses supersede those of women. He received a "Courage Award" from a hate group for his contributions to a climate of hate in which Dr. George Tiller was murdered and he is now praised by anti-choice fanatic and Fox fave Lila Rose. As part of his "looking out" for us, O'Reilly now claims that he's on a divine mission to "fight for the unborn" which, in O'Reilly's warped mind, is "protecting the kids." And as America's fetus guardian, he knows what they're thinking! And so can you if you follow O'Reilly's Thursday "Tip of the Day" and read all about it in his latest column, "What the Babies Would Say?" - an article that, along with fetus channeling has more patented Dr. Tiller bashing and more patented Bill women hating.

Hannity's Smear Of Hagel As An Anti-Semite Bellyflops

Posted by Ellen · February 01, 2013 2:16 PM · 9 reactions

Apparently, whoever booked Pat Buchanan for a discussion on the Hannity show last night just assumed that the conservative commentator would go along with Republican Sean Hannity's smears of Chuck Hagel, a former Republican senator who had the audacity to accept President Obama's nomination for Secretary of Defense. Unfortunately for Hannity (and perhaps his hapless producer), they didn't bother to consider Buchanan's record of anti-Semitic dog whistles before trotting him out in presumed support of Hannity's smear of Hagel as an anti-Semite. Instead, Buchanan not only refused to play his expected part, he staunchly defended Hagel.

Geraldo Rivera Seriously 'Contemplating' Running For Senate

Posted by Ellen · February 01, 2013 12:44 PM · 4 reactions

Chalk up Geraldo Rivera as the latest Fox News personality to enter, or considering entering, Republican politics. If he takes the leap he's "truly contemplating," he'll join the ranks of fellow Fox News alums John Kasich, Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich. Did I leave anyone out?
