When LGBT groups protested against the anti-gay views of the president of Chick fil-A and the Duck Dynasty patriarch, Mike Huckabee rushed to the defense of their free speech. Recently, he did a lot of whining about how the sainted Benham brothers were robbed of their HGTV show due to gay bullies and "thought police on the left." He accused the left of showing "their insecurity of an opinion that is anything other than their own" and trampling the First Amendment rights of faith filled, biblical Americans. So one wonders what Huckabee thinks about a biblical Christian boycott against the St. Louis Rams for their sin of drafting the openly gay Michael Sam and VISA because they gave Sam an advertising contract? Shouldn't he be upset about biblical Christian bullies?
DC lobbyist Jack Burkman, who is lobbying for legislation that would ban openly gay players from playing in the NFL, has launched his boycott against the St. Lous Rams and VISA. He claims to have the support of a coalition of Christian leaders. Burkman warns that "The NFL, like most of the rest of American business, is about to learn that when you trample the Christian community and Christian values there will be a terrible financial price to pay."
So in the interests of consistency, shouldn't Huckabee be concerned about bullying on the part of those thought police on the right who are insecure about an opinion other than their own? Will he organize a St. Louis "appreciation day" as he did for Chick Fil-A after its head, Dan Cathy was criticized for his anti-gay views - views which have moderated, according to Huckabee, as a result of Cathy's caving to gay "bullies." Will he launch a petition in support of the Rams and Visa as he did for Duck Dynasty. What about the First Amendment rights of those who support Michael Sam. Just Saying...
What about Huckabee’s own support for boycotts, as we discussed here only ONE MONTH AGO? How about how Huckabee boycotted NPR because he was angry that Juan Williams had been let go for bigoted comments about Muslims? How about all the various boycotts and similar tactics taken by the right wingers at Fox News that Huckabee never discusses?
This sounds like a case of “Who do you believe? Me or Your Lying Eyes?”
