Mike Huckabee, Women's Libidos, And 'Uncle Sugar' (Oh My!)

Posted by Priscilla -26.60pc on January 23, 2014 · Flag

After the 2012 drubbing that the GOP took among young women, the RNC solons acknowledged that they need to improve their standing with women who were turned off by "biologically stupid" remarks made by GOP candidates whose comments about rape were, uh, batshit crazy. The GOP recently conducted training sessions on how to speak to and about women - seriously - Doonesbury satirized it nicely. But despite this effort to raise the level of discourse, it would appear that some in the GOP patriarchy still don't get it. Last Saturday, Fox's Mike Huckabee, a possible presidential candidate, talked about how real women don't need "demeaning" free birth control because having babies is what's really important for women's empowerment. And being the expert on women that he is, he said that the women he knows aren't like us pro-choice slutty sluts who are "slaves to their libido." And today, at an RNC meeting, he did it again!

Yesterday, at an RNC committee meeting, Mike Huckabee told his audience that the GOP can't allow the liberals to control the message that Republicans are waging a war on women when the Republicans are waging a "war for women." (Oh, thank you GOP for saving us from our nasty lady parts!) He claimed that Democrats have convinced us silly, stupid women that we are victims and that the GOP should craft a message of empowerment for women. (No more abortion and birth control, free at last!) As he did on his recent show, he talked about how his godly, GOP gal pals are appalled at those nasty Democrats who "think that women are nothing more than helpless or hopeless creatures whose only goal in life is to have a government provide for them birth control medication."

But the pièce de résistance in his psychology of women lecture was this:

“If Democrats want to insult the women of America by making them believe they are helpless without Uncle Sugar coming in and providing them for them a prescription each month for birth control because they cannot control their libido or their reproductive system without the help of government, then so be it."

I do believe we have some, uh, projection going on here because it's not Democrats who believe that women are slaves to their libidos. (Think Rush Limbaugh's three day rant about all the sex that Sandra Fluke was supposedly having). Seriously, what's really insulting is the unprecedented number of anti-choice bills passed by GOP legislators. What's really insulting is that the same people who seek to control our bodies, don't seem to be concerned about women's economic issues like equal pay and affordable child care. What's really insulting is that while they take away reproductive rights, they take away the safety net for those women who do give birth.

But there's no GOP war on women says Mike Huckabee who obviously was obviously not present during those RNC lectures on women.

Very Truly Yours

I wonder what ole Huck thinks of corporate subsidies so the haves can have more. Maybe he can ask the lobbyist to be on his show someday with their insightful thoughts on this.

I’m familiar with the term Sugar Daddy, so it’s nice to know the word has a brother now.

LOL, doors17 – best comment so far!

@antoinette
I heard Mark Levine going off on The Huckster for his RINO comment too. It was pretty ugly (and I just laughed and laughed and laughed). :-]

This morning the 3 stooges of the curvy couch were rushing to defend The Huckster by saying that those going after him for his remarks are taking him out-of-context because technincally he said that it’s the Dems that believe that stuff about Uncle Sugar/libidos. Oh puh-leeez, Dems do not believe that. This is nothing more than The Huckster inserting his own right-wing spin about Dems, government healthcare aid and sex outside of marriage/sex with the intent to avoid pregnancy (while feebly attempting to pass it off as some kind of Dem mindset).

The Huckster and those of his ilk are the ones who buys into the “Uncle Sugar” scenario (as in women getting aid for their health/family planning are nothing more than kept women? They are basically prostitutes who want to be given free things in return for their political support?). The Huckster worded his statement in this way so that he and his defenders could bogusly claim that it’s the Dems who think this way — while all along knowing that just the mere mention of “they cannot control their libidos” will be a huge, right-wing dog whistle to those who agreed with the slut-shaming tactics used by Limbaugh, BOR, etc.

Btw, Huckster, did it ever occur to you that women use birth control because it’s the men in their lives who cannot control THEIR libidos? Nah, of course, that wouldn’t occur to you…geez. Right-wing sexism strikes again.

Does this mean that Mike Huckabee didn’t attend the Republican Conference on how to talk to women or does it mean he was valedictorian of the class?

This is all very confusing.

I’m just gonna up and say what I’ve been thinking for a long time: The Republican’s problem with gays and women stems from the simple fact that none of them are getting any themselves. The married ones are in loveless relationships, the single ones are… Well, see Ann Coulter.

Get them a dose of whatever floats their boat, I guarantee you that this garbage will go away. Hell, even Limbaugh calmed down a notable amount before the passion went out of his whatever he’s up to now marriage. Then he was right back on his box. But GOD- That was a nice two weeks.

What’s most infuriating to me is this crap about women being “unable to control” their libidos— from men who force themselves on their wives and girlfriends as a matter of course. It’s not women’s libidos that cause most unwanted pregnancies, Huckleberry, it’s YOURS. (I mean, really, what self-respecting woman would have sex with that guy voluntarily, never mind in a fit of uncontrollable passionate lust?)

Sugarhuck has bigger problems. His recent rant about calling Republicans RINOS hit a nerve with the Tea Party folks. They have responded by calling Sugarhusk a RINO.

The Teas will see to it that his possible bid for president in 2016 comes crashing down.

NOTE TO SUGARHUSK

You should have heard what Hannity said about you about the RINO remark. Ooooweee!
