As part of his annual Holy Ghost inspired crusade to save Christmas, Bill O'Reilly directs much of his Christmas venom towards atheists who, given the hysteria surrounding their holiday signs, must really present a threat to O'Reilly's supposedly staunch Catholic faith. (I mean, otherwise, why the hysteria?). O'Reilly also doesn't hesitate to name the names of those who are attacking the baby Jesus such as the Freedom From Religion Foundation which, according to O'Reilly, is part of the plan to destroy all that is sacred. But Bill might actually be able to take credit for some Christmas victories. As with the murder of Dr. Tiller, we can't say if Bill is directly responsible; but we can say that Bill has created a climate of Christmas fear and loathing in which a Salvation Army bell ringer was allegedly punched for saying "happy holidays. He might also be able to take credit for attempted arson involving an atheist sign about Saturnalia!
The baby Jesus must be clapping his little hands about how some arsonists attempted to burn down a New Jersey sign that says "Keep Saturn in Saturnalia." The sign, sponsored by the evil Freedom From Religion Foundation, has earned the wrath of some in the community. It was set up as a response to the "Keep Christ in Christmas Banner" which Fox's Megyn Kelly enthusiastically endorsed two years ago during her diatribe against, you guessed it, the Freedom From Religion Foundation. Attempts by two men to set the sign's supports on fire were unsuccessful because the supports are made of steel. The Mayor if Pitman NJ said that "this has gone too far."
Funny, right wing Christians are fond of saying that they never do anything nasty like those terrorist Muslims. Yet they do, on occasion, engage in destructive behavior in an atmosphere of hatred which O'Reilly, with his national platform, perpetuates. Funny, I've often said that O'Reilly would have made a great inquisitor so this attempt to make a bonfire out of an atheist sign seems appropriate.
