Got Irony? Bill O'Reilly Whines About 'Epidemic Of Disrespect'

Posted by Priscilla -26.60pc on February 14, 2013 · Flag

Ya gotta love it! Bill O'Reilly, who specializes in personal attacks and character defamation, not only is upset about nasty, mainstream media "hate speech;" but he's now scolding those whom he deems disrespectful. True story. Last week, after his latest fatwa victim, a pro-choice Salon writer, saw an increase in her hate mail after Bill's smeared her in his column, Bill did a two part Factor segment about what he feels is a lack of respect in American society. Talk about pot meeting kettle!

In the first piece (February 7th), O'Reilly reported on how a teenage Florida girl got a 30 day sentence for being disrespectful to a judge. While Fox's Judge Napolitano thought that the judge overreacted, O'Reilly felt he should be applauded because "if we don't respect each other, we are headed for big trouble." O'Reilly blamed public schools, in particular the NY City School system, for being too lax on students who misbehave. In pontificating about the need for discipline, he cited his experience as a teacher which was only two years in a Florida Catholic school. Bill crowed that one of the reasons he sends his kids to Catholic schools is because they are strict. The so not DTF O'Reilly criticized JerseyShore for "debasing" our culture.

The next night, he continued his whine. He again complained about the NY City school system which, he claimed, is part of a "cowardly public school system." He claimed that "there is an entire generation of younger Americans who don't" OMG "care about tradition, authority, and acting in an appropriate manner." (And Bill's crusade against Dr. Tiller was "appropriate?") He predicted that these people will "pay a price." He then proceeded to disrespect the president by saying that "under the Obama administration" the good, respectful folks like O'Reilly will be "supporting" these misguided youth "who can't prosper in the market place."

This was followed by a segment during which O'Reilly screamed about the lack of discipline in the NY City public schools. While Fox contributor Kirsten Powers supported the teachers and said that parents were to blame, frequent Hannity guest and former George Allen advisor Kate Obenshain, who once said that Sarah Palin was "articulate and compelling,"agreed with Bill that it's all the school system's fault.

Bill reported that the jail sentence for the disrespectful Florida teen was vacated by the judge who, according to O'Reilly, must watch the Factor. His first guest, attorney Brian Russell thought that the kid should have done the time because "consequences are the key" and that we don't help people if we spare them the consequences of their actions. O'Reilly said that the change reflected the judge's compassion and he would have done the same. He pressed his other attorney guest, Anahita Sedaghatfar, about what she would have done if she had been the judge. Bill laughed when she said that she would have given the girl an admonition.

After repeating his suspicion that the judge had seen his segment from the day before, Bill claimed that the culture, "for those under 30," is just "rife with disrespect." Russell complained about how young people are just so irresponsible. Bill brought the topic back to the hated NY Public School system. He was "sooo happy" that Anahita would suspend a kid who curses out a teacher.

So if Bill is upset about lack of respect - let's see if he practices what he preaches. I'm not holding my breath! As Lady Soul sang,

R-E-S-P-E-C-T
Find out what it means to me
R-E-S-P-E-C-T
Take care, TCB

So BOR is whining about an “epidemic of disrespect”? Excuse me but coming from a guy who shouts, over-talks, interrupts, finger jabs, does personal attacks regarding how someone looks/sounds, goes into business with a known liar/hate mongering conspiracy nut, can’t refrain himself from calling those he disagrees with pinheads, nuts, loons, etc. and who works up the outrage so much that the targets of his ire get death threats, it’s the epitome of hypocrisy that he would even speak about an “epidemic of disrespect”.

As far as his concern about “debasing” the culture, isn’t this the same guy who sent his toadie out to a nudist colony so that BOR could titillate his viewers? And in a twofer with regards to “disrespect” and “debasing”, it was BOR who sent the same toadie out to Hawaii to purposely disrespect Obama and Hawaiians (while making sure to get a long, lingering shots of women’s asses as they were walking up the street in their tight clothes/high heels). Never mind that BOR is actually lauding Nugent to the folks despite the numerous despicable, violent tirades Nugent has spewed.

Unless BOR is willing to clean up his own act and stop disrespecting others/debasing our culture himself AND is willing to start calling out the hate/disrespect on his own network and FOX “news” websites, then BOR’s complaints about disrespect and debasement reek of a huuuge double standard. BOR is not part of the solution – he’s part of the problem!

Cavuto Mark alert: BOR’s 2 years of teaching school = just long enough to help keep him out of Vietnam?

I was a high school math teacher for 8 years, I tutor at Sylvan Learning Center with kids of all ages. A few students could be disrespectful but the overwhelming majority of them were great. They were young, occasionally made poor choices, but they were good kids just growing up and rarely disrespectful, different but not disrespectful. The leaders in education are cowards, that he did get correct but as usual honestly when is the last time Bill worked with young people or teenagers? He doesn’t know anything, he takes a few examples in the news and generalizes, it’s what he does and it’s lazy but it sells. For every sensational story of a bad teen are millions of stories of teens just being teens, funny, goofy, being immature, doing good things, with a handful creating trouble but Bill would have to actually know young people first and what Bill lacks in first hand knowledge of young people he makes up for it by stereotyping ignorantly.

I’ve never understood the motivation or mindset of trolling, as exemplified by “lynn”… is life so empty that any attention at all, even derision, is welcome? Why bother showing up on a site where one knows ahead of time that one will disagree with the vast majority of commenters? I confess to showing up once on 1st Things a few years back, due to a post on another blog that referenced it, and being curious, I wanted to see if people were really acting in the manner they were, and promptly left. I suppose I could browse over to Fox & Friends or RedState, but as the odds of my finding any agreement there, while statistically are not zero, might as well be, and the chance of my just being pissed off close enough to 100%, why bother? Maybe it requires the sort of personality usually reserved for torturing small animals, or just a strong masochistic streak, so that might explain why I just can’t understand it, but geezis…

Correct me if I’m mistaken but didn’t O’Reilly join the hatefest—oh, I’m sorry—the “lack of disrespect” to Sandra Fluke last year?

Hey Bill. You want to clear up this “epidemic of disrespect?” You might want to clean up your own house first.

Or, in words that you might have heard (and if you haven’t, I’m sure Father Johnny would show you where to find it):

“And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother’s eye.”

Killer O’Reilly will never get over the fact he cannot Publicly take credit for having Dr. Tiller murdered. A hate like that will never end until it has devoured ever cell in his body. Until then he’ll smother his viewers in the puss oozing out of his every pore. The site of himself in the mirror every day just accelerates his self destructive rage.

I find it interesting that Bill doesn’t mention the nasty comments made daily on Fox about any Democrat they don’t like, especially the President. If he wants to find examples of disrespect, how about the regular buckets of hate being spewed toward authority figures by Sean Hannity? How about Bill’s own tendency to interrupt and talk over people? Wouldn’t that also count as disrespect? How about Bill’s usual sub Laura Ingraham and her behavior?
