Is Bill O'Reilly Lying About Hawaii's Food Stamp Participation?

Posted by Priscilla -26.60pc on January 14, 2013 · Flag

Bill O'Reilly appears to be banking on the saying about how if you repeat a lie often enough, it will be believed. Last week, in his second attempt, via his hired stalker Jesse Watters, O'Reilly tried to paint Hawaii, the home state of President Obama, as a "libertine" state full of mixed race people getting free stuff. In his video tutorial, Watters claimed that Hawaii has the highest rate of food stamp usage. That was wrong. Friday night, Bill O'Reilly began his segment, "exposing Hawaii's liberalism," with the same allegation about how Hawaii ranks "number one in food stamps." Once again, that's incorrect - at least according to the Murdoch owned Wall Street Journal. Is O'Reilly merely misinformed or is he lying to push his twisted agenda? Is he, as Senator Al Franken used to say, pulling facts out of his ass?

The information regarding food stamps usage is readily available and if O'Reilly availed himself to it, he would find out that Hawaii ranks 35th from the bottom while a bunch of conservative states are in the top 10 - something never brought up by O'Reilly as that might cut the buzz of his message that liberals are the only ones who want free stuff. So we don't know if he's deliberately lying or just misinformed - which seems odd for somebody who presents as somebody in control of the facts. One thing's for certain, as Jon Stewart says of O'Reilly - he's full of shit!

The information is from April 2011 to April 2012.

Just tried to flag lifeline landing and it doesn’t seem to be working: was “saving” for over five minutes before I decided to abort the attempt.

Hi Spacegod: methinks you should add Lifeline Landing to your list of spam posts.

Bob, that would go under the part where he gets dragged kicking in screaming into owning up to the lies that even Ailes can’t believe he told.

His regular lies never get accounted for past watch sites.

Aria, O’Loofah doesn’t even own up to his nightly lies. He just blames Media Matters.

O’Reilly never tells the truth, and when he has to own up to it, he gets dragged kicking and screaming into a segment where he crudely spouts “I was wrong, now shut up about that!”

He can’t even tell the difference between quoting a bad fact… and outright lying. Something him and his viewers apparently have in common.

Priscilla. Was it really necessary to go beyond “Is Bill O’Reilly lying?” Obviously, no matter the subject, the answer to “Is Bill O’Reilly lying?” is “Yes!!” It’s only when “No” is the answer that we really have something truly surprising. (Even a broken clock tells the true time more often in a single day than Bill O’Reilly tells the truth in a whole week. Okay, it’s probably more like a whole year, but I thought I’d give O’Reilly a little benefit of the doubt—even though he doesn’t deserve it.)
