Sean Hannity had a contentious interview with House Speaker wannabe Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) last night that reflected the serious divisions among Republicans. But one thing they both agreed on: Exploiting the Benghazi tragedy for political purposes is just what they like about the GOP.
McCarthy, the current House Majority Leader, was obviously stumping for votes from the extremist wing of the Republican party, as exemplified by government shutdown and Ted Cruz loving (but democracy hating) Hannity. So McCarthy threw some Benghazi red meat to the party purists:
MCCARTHY: The question I think you really want to ask me is, how am I going to be different? What are you going to see differently?
HANNITY: I love how you asked my questions. But go ahead, that was one of my questions. Go right ahead.
MCCARTHY: I knew you’d want to ask it. What you’re going to see is a conservative speaker, that takes a conservative Congress, that puts a strategy to fight and win. And let me give you one example: Everybody thought Hillary Clinton was unbeatable, right? But we put together a Benghazi special committee, a select committee. What are her numbers today? Her numbers are dropping. Why? Because she’s untrustable. But no one would have known any of that had happened, had we not fought and made that happen.
Instead of expressing any misgivings that a Congressional committee would be used for political purposes- not to mention the time and money involved - instead of actually legislating or providing legitimate oversight, Hannity gave the politicization his seal of approval.
HANNITY: I agree. That’s something good, I give you credit for that, I give you credit for sequestration, I give you credit—I’ll give you credit where credit is due.
Then flagpin patriot Hannity moved right along to demand that McCarthy “defund ObamaCare, defund Planned Parenthood” – which Americans oppose – and then demand that Congress “stop the power grab of this president.”
Watch the video below, from the September 29 Hannity, and see who's really on a power grab. The Benghazi discussion occurs about four minutes in.
(1) They really didn’t give a shit about the people who died there. They were happy to have something to try and use against Clinton. And all their waste of taxpayer dollars for this committee or that hearing produced nothing except—
(2) Email gate. And clearly no evidence of wrong doing has been exposed even as more emails are released for everyone to peruse. Which leaves only—
(3) The only reason we brought any of this stuff up was to damage Clintons’ credibility and trustworthiness with lies and innuendos. And Hannity lauds his success as McCarthy virtually admits to “making shit up for political gain.”
