Fox’s Your World show rounded up a “fair and balanced” panel of three guests, plus the host, to mock the U.S. Senate’s upcoming all-night session to urge action on climate change. The only difference was in what each one mocked.
Host Neil Cavuto set the tone in his introduction. He sneered, “Isn’t there a worthier project for them to work on, an all nighter that really would result in something - I don’t know, maybe look at that $17.4 trillion debt? I guess not.”
Guest Dagen McDowell mocked the Twitter hashtag, and called the whole effort uncool.
But guest Ben Stein probably took the cake for sneering. He said, “This climate change thing is such nonsense, I would use another word for it, but it’s a family oriented show. This is a problem that takes generations, maybe millennia to resolve, and they think they’re going to solve it by staying up late one night? This is a situation in which they’re complaining and complaining about global warming - suddenly it’s turned incredibly cold, so they now call it extreme weather or climate change, and so that’s a diversion in and of itself. …This is just nutty pandering to their most extreme, nutty base.”
Marc Morano was another guest. Not mentioned was Morano’s paycheck from the polluting industry nor his record of smears and misinformation. Morano announced, “It’s been 17 and a half .5 years with no global warming according to the latest satellite data, so they have a serious PR problem there.”
Instead of challenging Morano, Cavuto suggested he was being too cautious. “Seventeen and a half years, what about 18 years?” Cavuto asked.
Morano replied, “We’re going on 18. Every kid in high school has never experienced global warming.”
Meanwhile, nobody mentioned that global warming seems to be getting worse. On Fox News, self-interest and partisanship trumps all.
