Charles Krauthammer summed up Donald Trump’s rambling, infomercial of a press conference: “I don’t think I’ve ever heard such a stream of disconnected ideas since I quit psychiatry 30 years ago.”
It's almost impossible to describe the press conference but in it he hawked his discontinued products such as Trump steaks and Trump magazine (both of which were mocked by Mitt Romney), ridiculed and belittled an NBC News reporter and somehow worked in that he'll make the country say "Merry Christmas."
On Fox News, conservative contributor Charles Krauthammer, a former psychiatrist, all but called it "crazy."
KRAUTHAMMER: [Joe] Trippi was saying a little earlier that he found a little bit of structure in the Trump oration. Well, I beg to disagree. I don’t think I’ve ever heard such a stream of disconnected ideas since I quit psychiatry 30 years ago. That was quite a performance and it was very weird.
...I think people have a sense of humor about him which is good because otherwise they’d be terrified and that’s what has been carrying him through.
Almost as disturbing as Trump's remarks was, as Media Matters reported, that all three major cable networks carried them without interruption, while ignoring Hillary Clinton's speech, which happened at the same time. Media Matters noted that MSNBC subsequently aired Clinton's speech. But Fox News did not and CNN had not as of the time of Media Matters' post, 10:29 PM ET. The presser ended a little before 10 PM.
Watch Krauthammer rip Trump below, from Fox's March 8 primary coverage. You can also watch the complete press conference underneath.
Seems like his soul mate’s infected him with the gift of word salad.
AND …they finally share in the terror that MOST of US (America) have been experiencing BECAUSE of the GOP/Republican Party’s message, policies and practices!
Willful ignorance is not BLISSful …just plain stupid!
AND … the stupid IS strong in that group of Americans!
Rather than the bunker days, what’s happening in the USA right now is a lot like what happened during the early years of fascism and nazism in Italy and Germany (and probably any other dictatorship that has ever existed). Gangs of brown- and black-shirted goons were happily engaged in beating up anybody who disagreed with “the Word” and most people were too busy getting on with their lives to bother. The rest is history as the saying goes.
Trump’s merry Christmas hypocrisy should wake up everyone to the utter lie of the Fox News anti-politically correct narrative. For every instance of a right-winger outraged over the liberal speech police is a conservative donning his own Keystone Kop uniform to enforce his alternative speech code.
So Der Furor is so outraged some people say “happy holidays” he’s going to force us to say “merry Christmas.” Don’t forget your Nazi salute.
The networks are covering what may be a cult forming around Trump? Can you say enabler?
The problem for Trump is, is that a lot of republicans detest cults even if Jesus Christ himself handed them the cup of kool-aid.
Am listening somewhat distractedly to Fox while working and I’m picking up a lot of underlying tension between hosts who react against any unkind word about Trump and many guests who would actually like to say something just a teeny weeny bit critical but are scared of setting off a battle on the air. So many people walking on eggshells. Disturbing. Very disturbing.
Note to self: must buy more popcorn as there may be a civil war brewing inside the FNC building.
