Trump Impeachment Trial, Day 8 – Open Thread And Live Streaming

Posted by Ellen -7859.80pc on January 29, 2020 · Flag

Today, senators are asking questions of the Democratic House managers and Donald Trump’s legal team. We’ve got it live streaming after the jump.

I’m a bit late to the proceedings as I’ve been writing up Hannity's insertion of himself into the proceedings (see my last three posts) but I’m tuning in now for the duration, except for a possible errand later.

If you’re watching or if you have watched, share your thoughts and observations below.

The live stream below via C-Span.

Collins and Murkowski just asked if Trump had expressed concerns about Burisma corruption before Biden ran for president. Trump council can’t say he did.

I’m not seeing any sign any Republicans are going to defect and ask for witnesses. Gardner has publicly stated he will not. Burr just joined McSally, Ernst and others in “asking” if Trump provided more aid to Ukraine than Obama, or some similar question.

Doucheawitz gave one of the most bizarre answers I can imagine in this or any other universe. Sorry, not verbatim, but to the effect of “A President may think that his own re-election is in the national interest, therefore whatever he does to ensure that result is ipso facto not impeachable.”
