The Young Turks visited a Donald Trump rally or, to be more specific, the outside of a rally where a protest almost turned violent. TYT’s Jordan Chariton argued that Fox News has “scrambled” the brains of Trump supporters.
After the rally Chariton discussed the rally with TYT’s Eric Byler. “What bothers me,” Chariton said, in addition to how segregated the Trump supporters are, “is just how off-the-reservation some of these people are.”
He cited as an example one woman who raised her fist as she exclaimed, “We are for Trump all the way!” Her explanation was that Trump is “the only man that can make America realize that we need to stand up for our rights.”
“What happened to your rights? Chariton asked.
“They’ve been taken away by Obama!” she shouted.
“It’s the ‘Fox-newsification’ of the right-wing,” Chariton continued. “And It’s taken normal people, who may be a little conservative, and taken their brains and scrambled it. And not all of the Trump supporters are like that but I’ve met enough of them now to know it’s not isolated.”
There’s good reason to think so. Fox News has spent all of President Obama’s two terms suggesting that he’s a menace to America: Fox has accused him of “trampling on the Constitution,” getting “in bed with” America’s enemies, suggested he has a secret jihad agenda, and has joined in Donald Trump’s dishonest smear campaign to accuse Obama of being literally un-American, e.g.
The result is that Trump supporters may be even more frightening than he is. As one protester TYT talked to noted, “Once Trump is gone, they will still be here.”

A local news camera crew tracked him down and he was unapologetic and said he’d do it all again. Need I mention the guy was worked up into a complete lather and mad as Hell?
This is purple swing state Virginia. I think I mentioned previously a co-worker refuses to eat lunch with me because I criticized Trump and I was gentle about it (I.e., not nearly as vocal as I am here).
There is nothing like the Trump phenomenon I’ve ever witnessed in my life. This is way beyond the standard team sports Republicans versus Democrats silliness typical of elections.
