Sheriff David Clarke Calls Charlotte Protests A ‘George Soros-funded Assault’ On American Culture

Dangerous crackpot Sheriff David Clarke claimed, without offering a single reason to believe him, that George Soros is funding the Black Lives Matter protests in Charlotte, North Carolina. That was too much even for Fox host Neil Cavuto.

Clarke visited The Cost Of Freedom special yesterday to discuss both the protests in Charlotte and the mall shooting in Washington State.

Cavuto started with Washington. “You’ve got a lot of scared Americans right now. What do you tell them?” he asked.

Clarke’s advice was that everybody should get a gun. Or at least that was the strong suggestion.

CLARKE: Here’s what I tell them: be prepared to defend yourself.

You’re not going to limit these things but you can limit the carnage. Every one of these places are chosen for one reason, Neil, and it’s because they are gun-free zones. And these perpetrators, these criminals, these terrorists know that they’ll be able to shed a lot of blood before the situation is stopped. So it’s gonna be high time in America now for people to wake up, get out of this naïve view that the police will be able to protect everybody all the time and realize you play a role.

[…] The more these individuals realize, these perpetrators, that somebody’s going to quickly be able to counter their nonsense, I think you’ll see less of it. If nothing else, you’ll be able to play a role in saving your own life.

Actually, real experts say you should try to escape first and fight back only as a last resort. They also say that brandishing a firearm can put you in even more danger because police and others could mistake you for the shooter.

But Cavuto didn’t challenge a word. Instead, he switched the subject to give Donald Trump-supporter Clarke the opportunity to promote Trump’s law-and-order candidacy. “How do you reassure people that to get tough means you’re getting tough and fair with everybody?” Cavuto asked.

It didn’t take long for Clarke to start unloading his sick hate on the left and on Black Lives Matter. You may recall that Clarke once predicted that "Before long, Black Lies Matter will join forces with ISIS."

CLARKE: What’s going on in Charlotte and other areas is - really, these attacks on cops, Neil - this is an attack on the rule of law. This is a George Soros, anarchist-funded effort and we have to rid ourselves of this naïve view that it’s anything but. This is not about protests, this is not about inequality, this is not about any of those things. This is a George Soros-funded assault on traditional American values and western culture.

That was too much for Cavuto. But he didn’t come close to the level of challenge he showed toward Jesse Jackson.

CAVUTO: Seriously, sir. I don’t know in the beginning, on the first night, whether that was George Soros inspired. I don’t know what’s happened since.

Then Cavuto went right back to treating Clarke like a credible authority, asking, “Where do you draw the line between the people’s right to protest and the people’s right in that area just to go about their daily lives?”

Your story is incredibly stupid. Sheriff Clarke is most probably the best Sheriff Wisconsin ever had. You people are incredibly ignorant. Soro’s, who is Clinton’s handler, is the most disgusting man. He funds the hate protests against America. Before you write a story of this nature in the future, you would do well to actually research the topic before you open your stupid mouth. All that follow you are equally stupid and did not do one bit of research to say what they do. And I do not mean listening to the likes of CCN or MSNBC or the Washington Post. Wow!!!! Ignorance abounds!

If the county that employs this freak gave him a raise, any bets he would never be seen on Fox News?

The good people of Wisconsin need to get rid of this sheriff, and replace him with someone who won’t waste the taxpayers’ money making appearances on national television.

Um, Sheriff — in the above statement, by “these perpetrators, these criminals, these terrorists”, are you referring to cops? Specifically, the cop who shot Keith Scott — which is the reason for the Charlotte protest?

If Sheriff Roscoe P. Coltrane and Harris Faulkner had a love child, it would be Sheriff Bozo Clarke.

Well said Sheriff Clark!

I’d love to see him on The Five. I’m sure Harris will wear an extra tight skirt. It’s all done in the name of journalism folks.

What does one have to do in order to get an investigation on the deaths by dehydradation at the jail managed by this dangerous person? I used to consider him to be a silly, folkloristic caricature of an Amercan (elected) sheriff, but anybody capable of cutting off the water to an occupied jail cell should definitely wind up in jail himself.

From Kevin Koster’s comment:

“King and Jackson’s point was that consistently oppressing and ignoring a group of people will result in this kind of blow-up……….”

Which leads me to come to this conclusion: Sheriff David Clarke either FLUNKED PHYSICS in high school or has TOTALLY FORGOTTEN (or has chosen to ignore the fact) that human nature is VERY SIMILAR to the fundamental law of physics:

FOR EVERY ACTION, THERE IS A REACTION!

In the same way, you can only push a group of people around for so long before they start PUSHING BACK!

Oh, the lies. The incredibly transparent and stupid lies.

So we go from Jackson saying he understands the frustration and anger of protesters to Neil claiming Jesse says it’s the ‘right’ of protesters to turn violent and destructive?

Then the lying Fox News weasel lacks the spine to ask Tea Party conspiracy parrot Clarke for any evidence Soros has funded anything. Show us a money trail before accusing people, fool. Worse, slimy Cavuto seems to entertain the crackpot conspiracy theory with “I don’t know what’s happened since.”

Take Clarke’s knee-jerk smear the protesters are “anarchists”. Sure, some have looted but it doesn’t logically follow they espouse an ideology of anarchy. Or does he suppose all criminals are anarchists?

The exactly what does he want the Charlotte police to do? I watched live the 2nd night of the protests. Police were following a standard approach of singling out the trouble-makers and drag them behind the police line to gain control of the situation without igniting it further.

It sounds like he’d like a few hundred officers rush a few thousand protesters and try to do mass arrests. People fight back? Pull out your batons, crack some heads? Things turn uglier? That’s what side arms are for, eh Clarke?

Cavuto did not distinguish himself overmuch in this discussion. In fact, he badly misrepresented Jesse Jackson’s statements, saying that Jackson had said it was the “part of their right” to riot. Jackson said no such thing. He said that the rioting could be thought of as termed by Martin Luther King as the voice of the unheard – a very different concept than Cavuto presented. King and Jackson’s point was that consistently oppressing and ignoring a group of people will result in this kind of blow-up, not that it’s anybody’s right to have a riot.

Of course Cavuto also took time in his interview with Brent Bozell to pull the usual Fox News rewrite of the 2012 Obama/Romney debate where Candy Crowley appropriately challenged Romney on the false statement he was making and then attempting to double down on.

Makes me despair at times, dear David, things like American cops killing citizens at 500 times the rate of the British, but I take heart from my friends here and other liberal sites who show that all is nit yet lost.

How can this shameless prick devote so much of his time and energy to Fox’s 24-hour hate machine when he could be home killing even more of his prisoners by dehydration?

Does Sheriff Clarke look funnier with or without his hat? Just askin. The Soros line is something that was whispered into the sheriff’s ear I’ll bet.
