Sean Hannity’s HUUUGE Birther Flip-Flop: Obama Vs. Cruz

Now that Donald Trump has gone birther on Ted Cruz, Sean Hannity suddenly thinks there’s “no issue” if Cruz was born in another country. But Hannity was one of Trump’s biggest birtherism boosters back when it was President Obama Trump (bogusly) accused of being born abroad.

Let’s take a walk down Hannity Memory Lane…

In 2011, Hannity repeatedly promoted Donald Trump’s utterly baseless attacks on President Obama’s birth certificate because, Trump suggested, it might show that Obama was not born in the U.S. There was never any doubt that Obama is an American citizen because his mother was one.

However, by the time of Trump began his birther campaign, President Obama had already released his birth certificate and an announcement of his birth in Hawaii had been found in a Hawaii newspaper.

Senator and Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz, on the other hand, was actually born abroad. As PolitiFact explains, Cruz’s mother was American and his father was foreign, just like Obama's parents.

Yet last night, Hannity shrugged off concerns about Cruz’ eligibility. “I see no issue for Ted Cruz,” Hannity claimed. He also said that Cruz is “natural born” because he’s a citizen via his mother.

Then why did Hannity tell Obama to “get rid of this issue” by producing his long-form birth certificate, even though his legal, short-form birth certificate had already been produced? Or, when told that CNN had seen the birth certificate, Hannity said, “Never trust CNN.” Or “just asking, “Why can’t they just release the birth certificate, you know – and just move on?”

What “issue” did Hannity think Obama needed to “get rid of,” that Cruz doesn't, if being born abroad to an American mother doesn't matter?

I think we know the answer and it has nothing to do with citizenship or birthplace.

Watch the hypocrisy below, from the January 6 Hannity.

A gymnast as good as Hannity deserves to be in the Olympics. 😉

Washington Post says difference between Obama and Cruz is it was conspiracy theories about where Obama was born and he was accused of a fraudulent birth certificate. They said Cruz never denied being born in Canada so it isn’t apples to apples because there were no was accusations of him committing fraud. Now that means it must be apples to oranges and Trump is the orange one. He promoted this until he was singing “Don’t it make my Orange Balls Blue”.

One must remember Hannity has spent almost eight years vilifying and ridiculing President Obama. His life’s mission is filled with hatred for all things nonwhite, nonChristian and of course, liberal. To keep pace with other right wing nut jobs and shit bigots, Hannity uses deception, innuendo, half-truths and crap filled conspiracy theories. And just think, when Hillary gets elected, it starts all over again. Bottom line, Hannity represents all that is wrong with Fox “News”.

I was wondering how he was going to try squaring the fact that by giving a Canadian born gop candidate a pass re: eligibility, he essentially admits the entire circus around Obama’s birth certificate was wasn’t about birthright at all. He did the predictable, he dodges and moves on convincing himself that issue’s been dealt with.

Never mind about the clip. I found a better one on Media Matters’ website and substituted it.

Sorry about the poor video quality. I was unable to use my own equipment on this one. But the hypocrisy is so stunning, I couldn’t not post.
