Roger Ailes' Newspaper Cancels Critic's Subscription

Posted by Ellen -7859.80pc on June 01, 2012 · Flag

How petty and vindictive can Roger Ailes get? Consider this, via Politico:

An Upstate New York newspaper owned by Fox News president Roger Ailes has cancelled Gabe Sherman's subscription because of his forthcoming book about Ailes and Fox News.

Sherman, a contributing editor at New York magazine, discovered this week that his subscription to the Putnam County News & Recorder, owned by Ailes and run by his wife, had been cancelled. When he called the paper to ask about it, the editor Doug Cunningham told him that because of his forthcoming book, "we don't desire to have a relationship with you."

Sherman noted this in a piece he did yesterday about a newspaper war being waged against Ailes' paper. "Now Roger Ailes, community newspaper baron, is about to find out what it’s like to be the Establishment player facing competition from an upstart insurgent," Sherman wrote.

Don’t worry, Gabe. It’s available free online:

MJ, he didn’t seem to care when FNC sponsors said the same thing over Beck. I’m pretty sure that when someone starts a boycott against O’Reilly in the near future… he won’t care about that, either.

“we don’t desire to have a relationship with you.”

It’d be funny if some of the PCN&R’s advertisers said the same thing to Ailes . . .

This shows just how petty and vindictive Fox's head honcho can get.
