Here's another sign that Fox News is joined at the hip with the Republican party: Politico reported today that 2016 presidential hopeful Rand Paul met privately and separately with both Rupert Murdoch and Roger Ailes recently. As Politico put it, Paul has been "working to smooth concerns among Republicans and influencers about whether he shares his famous libertarian father’s views on issues like national security." Or to put it another way, he knows how important Fox News is to any Republican presidential candidate and he wants the blessings of the bigwigs.
As Politico also pointed out, "Ailes reportedly was part of a group of elites urging Christie to run for president against lukewarm front-runner Mitt Romney in 2011." But since then Christie has fallen from grace, at least somewhat, because of the legendary hug he reportedly gave President Obama in the wake of Hurricane Sandy.
But Media Matters noted, "While people outside the Fox empire are seeking the support of Ailes and Murdoch, several of its employees are already stoking speculation about running in 2016, including Mike Huckabee, John Bolton, Allen West, Scott Brown, and Ben Carson."
Rand Paul has many enemies, and most of them are in the Republican Party. Don’t be shocked to see more scandals pop up against the Tea Nuts. It’s coming.
Allen West is crazy, but he’s sane enough to know he hasn’t a prayer of being elected. Like Rand Paul, he’d be running to make a point and to bring his (perverted) issues to the forefront.
But Scott Brown? One of the dimmer bulbs who’s ever served, however briefly, in the Senate, with no particular philosophy or ideology other than apparent full-blown narcissism?
Please let it be so. The 2012 crowd was a clown show, I guess 2016 could be even better.
