Only two days into his elevated position as a prime time host, Jesse Watters is already looking like a chip off the old block of his former boss, Bill O’Reilly. After getting a lot of blowback over it, Watters tried to clarify by pretending he meant something he obviously didn’t mean.
Ironically, Watters preceded his smarm by accusing the left of being disrespectful to women.
WATTERS: The left says they really respect women and then when given an opportunity to respect a woman like that [Ivanka Trump], they boo and hiss. And I always thought the Europeans were supposed to be so sophisticated and well-mannered and now they’re treating this like it’s a soccer match.
Well, a soccer match might be better than a porn film. Moments later, Watters went on to say:
WATTERS: I don’t really get what’s going on here but I really liked how she was speaking into that microphone.
A big grin came over Watters' face just then.
Nobody commented and cohost Kimberly Guilfoyle immediately moved on.
But not the internet! Raw Story noted that Twitter lit up with even conservatives complaining that Watters’ comment proved that the frat boy culture at Fox News lives on:
The Jesse Waters on-air joke about Ivanka doesn't really dispel those employee claims that Fox News has a leering frat boy atmosphere, huh?— jimgeraghty (@jimgeraghty) April 26, 2017
Jesse Waters complains the Left doesn't respect Ivanka Trump and then in front of 2.5 million people intimates Ivanka was blowing her mike.— John Podhoretz (@jpodhoretz) April 26, 2017
“Why won’t the Left respect this high government official I just made a leering blowjob joke about?" https://t.co/OixiT8ti2a— David Frum (@davidfrum) April 26, 2017
Watters’ attempt to “clarify” didn’t help much. According to Mediaite, Watters made the following statement:
“During the break we were commenting on Ivanka’s voice and how it was low and steady and resonates like a smooth jazz radio DJ. This was in no way a joke about anything else.”
Twitter is not buying that either.
@jessebwatters wow. Do you have an intern on staff who helps ensure you stay that full of shit or do you manage it yourself?— Ian Fortey (@IanFortey) April 26, 2017
And neither are we.
