Bill O’Reilly spent a lot of time prodding Republican candidate Chris Christie to racially attack President Obama last night.
If you didn’t know much about the 2016 election other than this one interview, you might have thought Christie was running against Obama.
Almost all of Bill O’Reilly’s questions were about Obama. None asked Christie to distinguish himself from any of his current opponents, the other Republican candidates. Heck, O’Reilly didn’t even bring up Hillary Clinton!
About the only thing O’Reilly wanted to discuss about the other Republican candidates was there standings in the horse race. “You’re running a good campaign. …I submit that if Donald Trump were not in the race, you would be much higher in the polls,” O’Reilly assured Christie.
Then O’Reilly began pressing Christie to attack Obama. “The thing that President Obama did that you object to the most is…” O’Reilly began, asking Christie to fill in the blank. When Christie said it’s the Iran nuclear deal, O’Reilly asked Christie what he finds most objectionable on “the domestic front.”
O’Reilly also tried to make the criticism explicitly racial.
O’REILLY: Do you think there’s a racial component in President Obama?
CHRISTIE: No, listen. I don’t think so.
O’REILLY: OK, so a lot of Republicans do. I know him a little bit. I haven’t seen it personally at all, though he doesn’t seem to stick up for law enforcement and you do. He doesn’t seem to do that. He doesn’t seem to feel angry about Kate Steinle getting’ shot in the back of the head because federal policies can’t stop convicted felons from coming back six times. He doesn’t seem angry about any of that.
CHRISTIE: I think that has much more to do with being a law professor. Everything is theoretical to him. It’s a theoretical argument and when real life invades the theoretical argument, he falls back to the theoretical.
Watch O’Reilly gratuitously play the race card against Obama below, from the October 5 The O’Reilly Factor.
“Why would Bill O’Reilly use an interview with Chris Christie to race bait about Obama?”
Hmmmmmmmmmm, could it be to divert attention from the fact that O’Lielly himself is a “master – baiter” (remember his escapade with Andrea Mackris that LIGHTENED HIS WALLET BIG TIME?) ??
[sorry mods — I just COULD NOT RESIST!]
Memo to Bildo: President Obama ran for office in 2008 and 2012. He ain’t running in 2016.
