Mike Huckabee, ever the good Christian and patriot, compared the IRS to the Gestapo and the latest development of lost emails in the “scandal” to Watergate. He also dropped a not-so-subtle hint that President Obama should resign or be prosecuted.

On yesterday's Your World show, Huckabee said:

Eighteen and a half minutes of missing tape in the Nixon administration led to the resignation of a president, to the indictment and ultimately to the felony convictions and imprisonment of some of the highest officials in the United States. I cannot imagine that a special prosecutor wouldn’t be able to find some criminal activity here.

Later, he said, “The IRS is the closest thing the US has to a Gestapo. They can investigate us, they can charge us, they can convict us, and they can punish us all in one stop.”

Cavuto murmured, “You’re right,” as Huckabee spoke.

Whatever wrongdoing occurred, if it occurred at all, doesn’t compare to Watergate or, especially, a Gestapo.
