Only on Fox News would someone who likes to portray herself as a "straight down the middle journalist" mock and break out laughing at a presidential candidate in tears.
Kelly's mockery started in a teaser for a discussion about Hillary Clinton tearing up during an interview as she talked about her mother."Does it have anything to do with her campaign saying she's gonna show more heart?" Kelly asked. Loud laughter could be heard offscreen. Then Kelly began laughing as she said, "Then hours later, she cries? I'm just asking."
Later, during the actual discussion, with Fox News host Dana Perino, Kelly shouted sarcastically, "Cue the violins" and waved her arms like an orchestra conductor as an introduction to the clip of Clinton talking about her mother."
"Aww," Kelly sneered, after the clip. Her offscreen crew got a big laugh out of that, too.
I have no problem with Kelly questioning the coincidental timing of Clinton's tears with her new campaign strategy. But this was just downright disrespectful. And deliberately so.
Do you think "straight down the middle" Kelly would ever ridicule a Republican candidate this way? I doubt she'd even do that to Donald Trump.
Watch it below, from the September 8 The Kelly File.
Yup, I do think it’s a bit comical.
