Mark Levin's Pitch For Blacks To Vote Republican Is Insulting

Mark Levin went on a tirade about all the wonderful things the GOP has done for African Americans. Unfortunately for his thesis, Levin’s subtext was that blacks are just too stupid to get it.

Levin visited the Hannity show last night to do his part to get out the disaffected conservative vote, which was the show’s focus.

Right at the beginning, Levin undermined his later contention when he smeared Al Sharpton. After a clip of Obama calling into Sharpton’s radio show was played, Levin sneered, “I didn’t know Al Sharpton could speak in complete sentences and I’m still not certain that he can.”

Hannity didn’t object. Not long after, he complained, “I often point out that during every election, I see the Democrats play the race card. …What are we to make of that tactic? How should they (Republicans) respond?”

Levin offered this stuck-in-the-sixties diatribe as a defense of Republicans vis-à-vis race:

What we’re to make of it is this is a hateful race-baiting party that has really no good ideas, let alone new ideas and I hope African Americans around the country understand that the Democrat Party has always used them. The Democrat Party stood for slavery against Lincoln. It stood for segregation – all the way up from the Civil War into the 1950s and 60s. The first Civil Rights Act was actually 1957, Dwight Eisenhower. He sent the Army into Arkansas to open up that school when a Democrat governor was blocking the doorway, Faubus

You can look through the 1964 Civil Rights Act. Most Republicans voted for it. The 1965 Voting Rights Act – most Republicans voted for it. You can look at FDR’s first nominee to the Supreme Court, Hugo Black, was a former lawyer for the Klan in Alabama. You can look at Robert Byrd, that wasn’t that long ago when the Democrats rallied behind him and made them their majority leader in the senate – former Klansman.

Republicans don’t have a history of lynching anybody. They don’t have a history of blocking school doors. They don’t have a history of racism of any kind. And for once, I’d like a Republican to stand up and rub the Democrats face in their real history.

Besides the fact that Levin can’t seem to think of anything the Republicans have done for African Americans in the last 50 years (while accusing Democrats of having no new ideas), the underlying assumption is that if African Americans don’t vote Republican (which they don’t), they must either be too stupid or too ignorant or too gullible - or all three - to know better.

But Levin clearly doesn’t have a very sensitive hypocrisy detector. In the same segment in which he complained about President Obama being “very divisive,” Levin said that Obama’s “full Mussolini” will come out after the election. “He’s going to do everything he can in the last two years of his presidency to further screw up the country,” Levin predicted.

And just to prove how he’s such a uniter, not a divider, Levin concluded his ranting about how awful the Democrats are with, “They need to get a good swift kick in the ass in this election.”

“Well said,” Hannity said approvingly.

Watch it below, from last night's Hannity show, and see why Levin almost certainly did nothing to help get out the black vote for Republicans.

It is duly noted that Levin has fans, but so does Justin Bieber, and well…you know.

Conservatives are not pro-black or anti-black. We do not, as a rule, distinguish between all the various liberally generated classes and groupings that we are so often forced to address due to the current cultural emphasis on such things. We are pro-freedom and our message is for all Americans who would prefer to live self-determined lives without government oversight and meddling. Freedom comes with the price of accountability and self restraint. Government assistance comes at the price of liberty. We don’t care from where you’ve come, the color of your skin, what’s in your pants, or whether or not you’re confused about what’s in your pants. If you want the freedom to chart your own course in life and can restrain yourself from trampling on others rights to do the same, than you are welcome in our ranks.

The truth really offends the progressive liberal crowd. Mark teaches history about the democrat party and you liberals don’t like it. But, then you liberals never function on truth do you. In reality, the progressive left are statists/Marxists(read the communist manifesto and compare your ideology again we are dealing realities here)who hate America as Framers designed and intended it to be. IN truth, the progressive left are trying hope and change America into a third world country wanting a large government that seeks to take care of all your woes and then some. In the process, we lose all our freedoms that you liberals frankly don’t give a rats rear about. You no longer just represent a different point of view——you are the enemy to our nation and those of us who love freedom and the constitution as framers intended. I think we all should just oppose you as any other enemy to America no different than ISIS. Progressive liberals are in reality—-terrorists or WMD’s seeking to destroy this nation. You are no better and in fact not much different than any other enemy to America. This is not about the election, mark, me, and any of you, This is about the this nation free—Hopefully someday free of pests like you liberals.-the greatest country ever to exist.

I admit I don’t listen to Levin, Rush, Savage, Sean and their many clones. It’s just the same old tired act that has become easily predictable and after so long it can put a pot of coffee to sleep. I find it far more entertaining to listen to Led Zeppelin on my classic rock station.

I know the odds are astronomical against the Democrats gaining control of the House, and it’s a very real possibility that the R’s will control the Senate after the upcoming election, but I do find it amazing that states like Georgia and Kentucky are mathematically in play for the Democrats. I’m not sure if that’s a temporary hiccup or the start of a trend.

This is why I loathe leftists. What a bunch of losers.
This guys “interpretation” of what Levin said is worth what. Nothing… in fact a net minus.
Levin didn’t say that whatsoever, but moreover than leftists are RACISTS who do all they can to use minorities, obscure and obfuscate and this “interpretation” PROVE IT!
You leftists are pathetic. How do you look in the mirror without wretching?

If you want to know who that man is who befriended the neo-Nazi ask Seanny.

Since we have the Levin fans here on this thread, we have one question to ask them. Why would your hero, Levin befriend a man who had past ties with a neo-Nazi named Hal Turner? A man who hated Jewish people, like Levin, and other races.

Turner would often call him on his radio show, and visit him at WABC radio in New York City. Levin, a Jewish man, should re-examine his friendship with that man. Anyone who befriends a neo-Nazi says a lot about that person.

Apparently your masthead ought to read: “We don’t listen to Mark Levin, so you don’t have to either.” Get your facts straight, guys. That was not Levin’s message at all.

Democrats use an old Communist method called subjugation. Schools that don’t teach any real knowledge, just democrat propaganda, dependency on food stamps, dependency on government subsidized housing, and blaming all the people who wouldn’t want this for themselves or any other human being. Democrats are despicable and are the leeches of humanity.

Ellen you’re an idiot. Race baiting moron! Levin never suggested any such thing. However, David Corn did. You do know who David Corn is, right? I mean a screaming intellectually vacant liberal I can only assume that you recognize your own kind.

“Mark Levin Suggests Blacks Are Too Stupid To Vote Republican” yet no mention about the democrat fliers showing lynching or the little kids with their “hands up” begging for not another Ferguson. Those fliers are filled with more racism than anything that Levin or Hannity said. “Democrat Fliers Suggest Blacks Are Too Stupid To Not Vote Democrat”

Thanks, Levin lovers. Almost every single one of you has proved my point better than I could have ever done.

Joe Marsh,

I always appreciate your comments but please do not mischaracterize my feelings about Sharpton as equating him with MLK. As I have repeatedly said, I have mixed feelings about him. I have been (and remain) especially critical about his mostly turning a blind eye to the racism and race baiting on Fox News.

I don’t mind people criticizing Sharpton but my point in this post was that Levin’s smear was gratuitously disrespectful, had nothing to do with Sharpton’s actions and – most of all – severely undercut Levin’s “it’s the GOP that’s really a friend to African Americans” argument.

Yes, in the past the Klan and the south originally solidly voted for Democratic candidates up till the Civil Rights Act of 1964 was signed into law, but what about today? I think it’s safe to say that Klansmen today and those with that mentality overwhelmingly vote Republican in the present. The platforms from both parties have completely flipped since the passage and President Johnson’s prediction that this would give the Republicans the south for the next generation was wrong…it’s been longer.

I wonder if Levin mentioned Ellen’s commentary on his show yesterday? This is a huge number of trolls commenting only on this one article. I have listened to his radio show. Levin has some of the most loyal followers. I think he could actually raise an army from them.

@brandon Pitt: “Poor people have been voting for Democrats for the last 50 years and they’re still poor.” — Charles Barkley

Astute observation. And Obama has been tearing up the middle class do pit Americans against Americans in any way, shape or form. It’s right out of Saul Alinsky’s “Rules For Radicals”. It’s much easier to rule over a country that is divided. Until the combatants wake up and figure out who the real enemy is, and gets rid of them. Because the Democrats have no free thinkers and are in lockstep with each other bound by the fear of not being supported come election time, it’s time for them to go. People are waking up to this now, and are resolved to vote this misrepresentation out.

Blacks have been manipulated by the Democratic Party. You can call that stupid or you can call that vulnerable. All I know is that blacks are an “emotional people” and Leftism is run by emotion.

Levin’s audience knows he isn’t interested in uniting with Democrats. He repeats on his show often that his interest is in DEFEATING Democrats. That means his goal isn’t too win blacks in particular. His goal is to instill reasonable people with a disgust for the Democrat Party. Were it not for infantile Democrat policies designed to break black family culture and keep the black community largely dependent on government, Republican policies implemented in the 20th century would have been more than enough to ensure black prosperity. The only thing left to be done is to do back the racist Democrat policies of government dependence.

What a trash piece. Accusing someone you don’t agree with of racist remarks, but isn’t that just the heart and soul of democrat politics these days? There is a reason MLK was republican. There was a reason Malcom X said any black person who voted democrat was a race traitor. What have republicans done for black people in the last 50 years you ask? How about what have Democrats done? Democrats took over big cities and cornered black communities into housing projects for their draconian social experiments. Democrats created social programs that are nothing short of financial slavery, seemingly designed for locking minorities in place instead of giving them a hand up. And while we are talking about the party of social experiments, lets talk about their big causes, like making abortion more readily available to the lower income classes, a move that leaves black community growth numbers virtually stagnant. Oh yeah, Levin is such a racist for pointing out your parties endless shenanigans. What a joke.

Well for Democrats the truth obviously hurts, for good reason I might add. Since 2007 when Democrats took control of both houses and 2007 when they had both houses and the presidency, Black Americans have seen a steady increase in …….Poverty, Food stamps, Unemployment, Racial division and Government dependence. Yea, voting Democrat has increased a lot of things for the Black community, just not anything they want

Sharpton cannot speak in complete sentences, and we’ve all known that for years,so what. However,it would have been best not to bring it up last night. All black Republicans that I know are highly educated, why ?It’s something that needs to be addressed, and I commend Mark for doing so.
